We had only a few intentions for our trip to Puerta Vallarta this year:get away to the beach to get a little sun, stay in a smaller hotel so we were not surrounded by a ton of noisy tourists, have good food in the hotel or close by, stay in a clean room directly off the beach to wake up to and fall asleep to the ocean/waves crashing. Mission accomplished! Hotel Basalto met all of the expectations and so much more! From the minute we walked into the hotel, everything felt so clean, organized, and well-cared for. The views from our balcony were incredible, and we even saw whales on 2 different occasions from our room balcony and while were eating in the hotel restaurant! The food was amazing; we ate nearly all meals there and enjoyed something different for each meal. The staff was so friendly, helpful, cheerful and accommodating. We scheduled our required covid test for the return flight and the Dr even administered the test in our own hotel room. Great location- far enough away from the crowds and tourism, but close enough to everywhere else we wanted to go. We were able to get cabs very quickly. Punta Mita only a 10 min drive and Sayulita about 25 min drive. This is my new favorite place to stay at in Mexico. Selfishly, I hope the word doesn't get out about this little gem! It is so quiet and such a retreat. Nothing to complain about here! Access to the beaches, was a little unexpected; when we wanted to walk on the beach at night, we did have to go for a longer walk in the dark to access them. I encourage you to scout out the routes in advance so you have some frame of reference in the dark.

We are repeat guests, and this place takes the cake for a boutique hotel experience. A bit secluded, but you can use the hotel bikes for an easy 15 ride ti the town, beautiful views great restaurant and bar onsite

The service, hotel, food, and scenery is absolutely amazing. It’s a hidden gem that’s for sure! The staff went over the top to help us and always make us feel taken care of. If you’re thinking of staying here you won’t be disappointed! We will be back!

Only great things to say about Basalto - The views are breathtaking. Rooms were clean, modern, minibars were actually reasonable. Restaurant was pretty good too, though I suggest checking out Punta Mita for at least a night. George and Gary were awesome bartenders, super hospitable. Perfect for a couple.

Review Hotel Basalto My family and I decided to stay at Hotel Basalto on a staycation for 3 nights and I must say, we were so pleasantly surprised. The property is a small boutique hotel situated on a beautiful beach with access only a 3 to 5 minute stroll, down the road. The rooms are well appointed and extremely comfortable and equipped. The restaurant, overlooking the majestic ocean, offers a fabulous menu, so if you are a foodie, you will really enjoy it! Every dish was perfectly prepared and the flavors and combinations would satisfy even the most discerning of palates. To top it all off, the staff is so nice….and I mean, SO NICE!!! They assisted us with everything we needed and played with our 6 year old son which allowed us to enjoy our dinner! They truly went over and above the line of duty and our son didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay. The pool is roof top, offering spectacular views, a relaxation area overlooking the jungle with hammocks where you can sit and enjoy a good read. They serve drinks and food at the roof top bar, which were excellent and they could whip up anything you asked for because they have an incredibly service oriented staff and want to please you. The beach is absolutely incredible and offers a couple of kilometers of pristine, untouched white sands and clear blue seas. I love kite surfing and I enjoyed kiting during our stay and it was great spot for when the winds allow. Thank you to all the team and we will definitely be back soon.

From the two pools, restaurant, and rooftop bar— the views never disappoint at Basalto. The beach is semi private thanks the rocks on each side, and the balconies feel very private as well. Service was always quick and friendly; food was impressive too. I booked one of the sea facing rooms and found it hard to leave the balcony. The sunsets are serene.

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Staff-very friendly and professional. Food & drinks-complimentary breakfast was very filling, all other food was delicious and my group of 4 tried almost every margarita over 2 days and no one found any they didn’t like. Views-phenomenal. Sunsets are unreal! The pools were clean, the rooms were clean, this place was incredible! It is a bit far from town so plan accordingly. I only want to stay at hotels like this in the future.
