Location Location Location

Hotel Casa Blanca is a stunning Moroccan inspired riad/boutique hotel located in the heart of Ajijic Village.

The hotel is located less than 200 meters from the beautiful Lake Chapala. Within walking distance, you are 5 mins away from the village’s main plaza in one direction and the beautiful lakefront Malecon in the other. There are many restaurants, shops and art galleries within two blocks from the hotel making for an easy and fun stroll in Ajijic Village.

About Ajijic and Chapala

Lake Chapala lies in a valley surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains of southwestern Mexico and is the country’s largest natural lake. Once an enormous inland “sea,” Lake Chapala is known for its breathtaking beauty, geothermal hot springs, and ideal climate — described by National Geographic magazine as among “the best in the world.”

Flowering trees paint the area with riotous color; fruit is so plentiful one can pluck them off the trees while strolling along the villages’ cobblestone streets, which are shared by vehicles, bicycles, burros, horses and pedestrians. Spectacular gardens hide behind carved wooden gates and colorful walls.

Lakeside, also nicknamed the “Chapala Riviera,” is home to a large international community, a mix of native Mexicans, Americans, Canadians and foreigners from countries throughout the world. Ajijic lies in the heart of Lakeside, and is known for its retired artists, writers and showbiz personalities. Although Ajijic is peaceful and laid-back, there is an abundance of modern conveniences, nightlife, restaurants, special events and shopping. It is definitely a place where people come for the climate and stay because of the lifestyle.

Visitors will enjoy the area’s shops, street markets, galleries, and workshops. Shop for antiques, furniture, tapestries, glassware, lamps, wrought-iron furniture, masks, pottery, jewelry, art and artesanias of all kinds. In fact, the Lake Chapala area is fast becoming the region’s supplier of quality crafts, replacing nearby Tonala.

Golf, tennis, swimming, horseback riding, boating or hiking to nearby waterfalls and hot springs are all available. One can relax in balnearios (swimming or bathing areas offering thermal spring water), or visit the more exhilarating local water park called Tobolandia.

An excellent four-lane highway connects Ajijic to Guadalajara and the Guadalajara International Airport (about 35 minutes away), as well as to other popular destinations such as Puerto Vallarta, Barra de Navidad and San Miguel de Allende.

Beautiful cute and charmimg hotel boutique, the owner and manager are absolutely kind. Continental breakfast is offered every morning and the rooms are clean. It is a great place to stay in Ajijic.

This hotel is a bag full of awesome. Personalized service, where the staff and owner go over the top to help you get the most out of your vacation. Want a car rental, but don't know who to rent from in town? They do! How about that unique restaurant, but you can't read Spanish and Google isn't helping? Well, they will! Meredith is a treat, too. Classy yet warm, with a bit of zip mixed in -- bottled in a smoky, green carafe! That's Meredith, and she'll take the time to know you, and thereby, just what you need during your stay. Stay here, weary traveler, and worry for naught. The only downside of this wonderful hotel, is that they don't know how to spell Morocco. But you can't have it all, and it's those little quirks that make someone special.

Very dissatisfied with our stay. They were doing renovations during the day which were not mentioned when me made reservations or during and subsiquent conversations we had with the hotel. Sanding and staining furniture in the courtyard ruined any relaxation time. Sawdust everywhere and the stench of stain very dissatisfied, should have been offered a discount or partial refund.

Great Location, Great People, Clean Room Make sure to check the price on the web and at the front desk before you book, for the best price. As a bonus (at least for some), the side entrance to the Chapala society's gardens is basically across the front entrance of the hotel! Also, the front desk (Matt, the owner and everyone else) were super helpful with everything (from where to eat to looking for New Balance shoes in Guadalajara, recommendations for where to stay in Guadalajara and things to do there, etc). They also said that they would accept packages for us. The breakfast included fresh cut melons, fresh bananas, various cereals, fresh milk, coffee and tea (hot water and tea bags), orange juice, yogurt and granola! As well as toast and breakfast cakes (and likely other items I don't recall now, and I forgot to take a picture of the breakfast). Wi-Fi was OK at the table under the window, inside room 3. Nothing great but nothing bad, either. Due to proximity to the beach, you can hear night life until 2 AM some nights, but that volume low, much less than the amazing and wonderful bird songs that you hear (everywhere) so it didn't bother us any. If you are a super light sleeper, then make sure to pack ear plugs as you will need them regardless of where you stay in the lake area (let's not forget church bells: 20-30 in a row, several times a day, at all hours of night or day - 7 AM, midnight, etc - they didn't bother us here). The beds were nice and comfortable (hard) as were the large pillows. Towels were fine. Toilet paper was fine, too (and not the paper thin garbage you find in some places)! We'd stay there again. Wonderful location. Uber is your friend.

I was in Ajijic MX to scope it out as i am relocating there in May. It is a lovely boutique hotel, charming, quaint, clean as a pin, with a very comfortable bed. Awesome location near Malecon, restaurants, plus across the street from the Lake Chapala Society. If interested, book directly with the hotel as you will get a better deal.

Wonderful Stay. I stayed here with my family for a week in April 2018. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, while simple, was helpful. The only thing I would add is, frozen boiled eggs is a very bad idea. The hotel is well located and you could walk to the lake and you restaurants easily. The only negative point is the beds. The beds sagged badly and good sleep became difficult.

Have been here before (different management) and always loved it. Remodeled after the movie. Very nice breakfast at 8:30 every morning despite it saying "continental". Loved our soft mattress, slept well. Very good service. Centrally located, can walk to restaurants and activities. Parking is on the street, can be inconvenient at times. Court areas are very nice and a nice roof top area almost no one uses. Took awhile to get warm water to the tap. No A/C but we did well without it even in late July.
