So far I have been satisfied with the hotel, except for the fact the wifi does not reach inside the room, but just outside there is a strong signal. It may be due to the type of building construction. It is not a fancy hotel but it is clean and quiet older building with an art deco flair. There is a breakfast buffet for 110mxn, but I think it is kind blah with overcooked scrambled eggs, beans, something that could be chilaquiles if they were not so mushy, pancakes or french toast, uninspiring coffee, cut up fruit, meusli, and liquid yogurt, plus cold bacon or pseudo bacon and grilled cold hot dogs. While there is a very busy street up front and to the side, by 8pm it really quiets down. There is a central atrium on the 2nd floor and 2 terraces on the 3rd floor. It used to be called Hotel Cué but it is now the Hotel Tobalá. The location is great with 2 major mercados on the next block. The Zocalo is just a few blocks north on Bustamante and not far from the ADO bus station. There are plenty of taxis but it is also easy and safe to walk around the hotel. The bed was in good shape and there is a coffee maker in the room. There is also a safe at the reception. The bathroom is adequate but could use a remodel. My room facing the street had a screened window and while the temperature dropped to around 46 at night, the room stayed at 68 degrees. There is AC in the room, but it never got hot in the room.

The outside of the building looks horrible. Inside, you will find large, comfortable rooms that are really old, but very, very clean. The wifi is pretty slow, but that's typically the case in any hotel around the area. The windows are actually soundproof, so they shut out most noise, however, you will definitely wake up at night every now and then with the market sounds. I'm a light sleeper, and I slept just fine after the first night here. The staff are very friendly, and the showers have good control of the temperature and the pressure of the water.
