Great place downtown Guanajuato. Rooms are huge and confy. Good continental breakfast with plenty of fresh fruits and juices. I will strongly recommend. Emilio

It's overall OK, it does have off-site parking (at another hotel, about a mxn$50 taxi ride); our room didn't have AC or a window. Great location.

Had a really bad experience here I DO NOT RECOMMEND this Hotel. My friends bag was stolen while we were having the continental breakfast that the hotel offers. They weren not helpful they only called the police. It happened inside the hotel and they didn’t want to be responsible for anything. We watch the surveillance camera and we clearly see how the group of three talks to the hotel staff and with a blink of an eye they take my friends bag from her chair. They have no security or anything they will let anyone in with no precaution. It was a very terrifying experience. Think twice before you book ... You’ve been warned!

Nice hotel, amazing location. Rooms are clean and comfortable, service was very good. WiFi is available but not very strong, best signal is in the lobby. The breakfast is very good, lots of free options and reasonably priced cook to order options as well. And you can’t beat the location: step out the door and you’re standing at the side of The Basilica. Everything El Centro has to offer is steps away (though with its associated noise...) If we return we’d definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Casa Virreyes. The 2nd floor King room was comfortable and thankfully quiet (we were there during the week) our room faced an interior courtyard area. The windows let in plenty of natural light although guests need to use the sheer curtains during the day for privacy. The staff was very friendly and helpful (English is not spoken). The hot water was very slow to arrive to the shower; however, once it did arrive it was plentiful. Great location, walking distance to all tourist hot spots, restaurants, cafes, bars and bakeries!

Excellent location, right next to the basilica, and 2 minutes from the main square. Many hotels in the center are completely inaccessible by car - you can actually drive up to Casa Virreyes to unload your luggage. Although when we visited during NY holidays, the road was closed to regular traffic - you just need to let the policeman know you're going to the hotel if that happens. They state no parking on their website, but have a deal with another hotel so you can leave the car there. It's about 10min out, and the ride back is 30-60 pesos (depending on whether you use Uber or Taxi), but that's much cheaper than using a paid parking lot that charges by the hour, and you really don't need a car to move around the center. Top floor rooms are more spacious, and quieter, too. But if you're a light sleeper, you may still want to use the provided earplugs due to the nightly singing of the callejoneadas, and the bells chiming every quarter hour (quieter during the night, but still).

Please be careful with your booking. We arrived and we were taken to a room with no window and it was really dark. We had paid extra for a premier room with a window but we were informed they had double booked our room and it wasn't available. The staff showed us to a suite but asked us to pay extra for this room. We had already paid extra for the premier room so we were unhappy about this and asked for a refund. We rang booking.com and were informed that nobody from the hotel had contacted them and that we were able to get a full refund as our booking was not available. Our room was unavailable on arrival and we had to find an alternative hotel.

The staff was very attentive, profesional, and very friendly. The room was spacious; however, the mattress was extra firm, as were the pillows. Check out time was at 1pm which was really nice not have to rush out. The hotel is located in the heart of the city center, you cannot beat the location. I had a room to the view of the church. Please note... that if you enjoy the church bells ringing... this is your place, otherwise it can be a bit loud. The overall experience was good!
