I recommend this hotel. It has shortcomings but all in all the positive traits make up for the negatives. The location is terrific for a visit to Oaxaca. We had a "suite" which is really a medium size room with a bathroom. But - comfortable enough. The arrival by car was fine - the attendant will assist you parking on the street and from there it is a valet parking service. The hotel needs a better mindset of service. Some odd things - there is a significant deposit for something as simple as a towel for the pool. Also - there is practically too much cleaning. They seem to be constantly cleaning the common areas. Also - the soap used to clean the floor has a very intense odor. I forgot my bag - a purse really - in the room when we were leaving. I should have been more careful. The bellman was focussed on retrieving the TV remote control and the AC remote - he and I should have done the "last look" before departing. The hotel was VERY helpful in returning my bag - they quickly sent it via courier to Canada. I cannot thank them enough for this service. If you are looking for a place to stay in Oaxaca - Hotel Casantica is excellent. We would definitely return.

Excellent service, beautiful building and decoration. The restaurant has varied options, and everything is fresh and delicious. The rooms are small and cozy, and the small pool is fun too. I wish they had an elevator. Overall, one of the best places to stay close to all the fun the city offers.

Very pleasant guest rooms circle a comfortable indoor courtyard. The hotel is well within walking dustance in all directions. A full Breakfast was part of our accommodation. A full menu was provided. Both the food and the service were extremely friendly and satisfactory. An indoor swimming pool was inviting but we were too busy to use it.

I had great hope for this beautiful hotel. The staff are friendly and the pool is warm. However the list of cons far exceeds the pros. They charge an exorbitant pet fee - $500 MXN per night. For that fee you get nothing. No water bowl, no pet bed, nothing. The building is excessively noisy and we could hear every door opening and closing throughout the hotel all night long. There is no parking on site. They valet park your car six blocks away so try not to forget anything. There’s nothing nearby for pets to enjoy. There isn’t even a spot of dirt for doing business in the morning. The restaurant was mediocre with overcooked steak and overpriced cocktails. Sorry I cannot recommend this hotel.

Nice quaint small hotel, conveniently located in the heart of the city. Very quiet with excellent service. It has a beautiful courtyard to relax or have a meal. Very good value for your money. Try a good piece of pastry from the "panaderia" located at the corner.

Well located in the Centro area, close to all the action and plenty of restaurants within a short walk. Staff was very helpful.

This hotel has some pretty amazing looks. With two lovely courtyards, the place looks like an old palace with a nice small pool and some several levels of terraces which makes it pretty cool to walk around. Just please be aware about the noise of the pipes in this place. When I firstly booked it and saw the reviews about the noisy pipes i thought to myself "surely it can't be that bad".... well IT ACTUALLY IS REALLY BAD!! The pipes in here may be really old cause as soon as someone in the room next door or above is using their running water, forget about any sleep, these pipes screech with loud noises at any time of the day and be assured you won't be able to sleep through it. Aside from that, the staff of the hotel are nice enough and fairly helpful at any time of the day.

I rarely write negative reviews but this place was terrible The bed was uncomfortable, air conditioning wasn’t working and the hotel said they couldn’t do anything about the AC with zero apology. The hotel never offered to give me any discount or any type compensation for their most expensive room. Also they allowed guests to yell and be loud at 11:30 pm at night in the main courtyard for well over an hour after I complained.
