Negative: The rooms are next to a terrace that other guests can use at night and it can be very noisy. Although there is a time (I think 11 pm) after which the terrace cannot be used, some people like to sleep before that..

(Based on my room #16 on top floor). This a great hotel, especially considering the price. And even cheaper when booking in person instead of the internet. The shower is great, there’s a security box in the room, it’s super close to the Zocalo, the staff is great, a small breakfast is included. The only concern is, and this is a recurring theme in hotels in Mexico, the hard bed, the so-called orthopedic beds that seem to be the norm. This one was not a “a concrete slab with a bedsheet” like some that my friends and I had to deal with, but it was hard. I was concerned. But I actually slept okay in it. And I knew after the first night that, for me at least, the bed was not a deal breaker. The shower water pressure was great. The water was hot. And the rooms have air conditioning should one need it (this can be necessary if one’s room is on the top floor where the roof absorbs and then radiates the daytime solar heat. Tomorrow I move for two nights to their sister hotel, Hotel Frida, to give it a try also. Today, Sunday, I have my first cooking class at Fonda de Santa Clara. And then, who knows? The activities of the city’s Sueño de los Muertos begins. October 2018.

The Hotel is in desperate need of some renovation. The first room we had, only had a window into the hall so that some vid gave led straight into or bed or could have climbed in. Even we changed the room, we got a lovely balcony. However, the lock on the door was broken and the noise from the street was very annoying until late at night due to the badly sound proofed windows/walls. The towels and sheets slightly dirty. The breakfast consisted of a plate of fruit and a dry roll. There is room for improvement. The staff is very friendly and eager to help! They also offer a valet service.

Positive: The interior is lovely and well maintained. The roof terrace has a great view and is a good place to eat your own snack.. Negative: The air conditioning unit was very noisy..

Positive: Good location, clean and comfortable.. Negative: We had a room at the front side of the hotel and it was a bit noisy from the street. Also, breakfast is only a bit of fruit and not tasty buns, I’d expect a bit more from a “4 star hotel”..

The colonial elegance of the room is marred by the chemical smell emanating from the bathroom, and, if you want a window, the rooms at the front face a bar that plays loud music till 4.00am

It was a good place to stay. Quiet even though it was on the street. It was clean the only think i didnt care for was the bathroom. They hung things that belong inside the toliet along the wall. Which caused my husband and I both to get headaches. Another didnt like having to leave my key to the room at the front desk everytime i left.
