Good value for money, clean rooms, only the bungalow where we stayed did not close well ?. The WiFi does not reach all the rooms but enough to send check WhatsApp. It had a terrace with tables and the pool looked in good repair and clean. One of the rooms smelled a bit musty but that is a problem with buildings near the beach and we were accommodated in another anyway.

El dueño es muy amable pero las condiciones de los cuartos es horrible ni siquiera pareciera que lo limpian las sábanas olían mal el cuarto olía a humedad, el baño con sarro y con tierra, la verdad no regresaría
The owner is very kind but the conditions of the rooms are horrible, it doesn't even seem that they clean it, the sheets smelled bad, the room smelled musty, the bathroom had tartar and dirt, the truth is that I would not return

excellent place in relation price-quality, at the time saturday feb 12 the weather was very comfortable and of course the water in the pool was somewhat cold, which is normal. the food there on the borregos beach was excellent, I recommend the GABINOS restaurant, it is one of the first, I ordered a large ceviche half raw shrimp and half cooked for $200 and it was literally more shrimp than vegetables, in fact we had to look for vegetables on the plate (tomato , cucumber and onion) to accompany the toast with so much shrimp, the fresh coconut that we ordered came out at $30 and of course after drinking it with its respective cut for the carnitas and the soda at $20. by the owner of the super accessible hotel, ask for anything you need and he will try to do his best to please you. I would definitely go back every time I return.

I stayed at the Portola for a month in February 2018 and a month in February 2020. A lot of work has gone in to the hotel in the past two years to upgrade and freshen it up. It welcomes families with children, couples travelling in Mexico and singles. (And a good mixture of English speaking guests as well as Mexicans). Luis, the Manager is fluent in English and will go out of his way to help with what ever you need as well as arrange tours such as whale watching. A Mexican family had arranged for a whale watching tour and I invited myself along. We found three whales and followed them at a respectful distance for a considerable time. The trip was $350 pesos for six adults. The bungalows are well stocked with cooking utensils and purified water bottles and very clean. Locarno, the housekeeper is a gem and provides cleaning about every third day as well as fresh towels as needed. Ernesto does the maintenance as well as adding new drywall and paint to older parts of the building. If something isn’t working, feel free to tell Luis. He was terrific in getting my faucets fixed in a very timely manner. And he really does want to know if your not happy with something. The pool is a good size. Much bigger than most upscale hotels with upscale prices. Something that never seems to make it into reviews is how accessible the hotel is for people with mobility issues. At the Portola, there are no stairs and a ramp leads to the pool. I’m unable to walk very far and Louis called taxis’ for me as needed. In the four years I’ve stayed in San Blas, I’ve developed an excellent relationship with a taxi driver who helps me in and out of the vehicle takes my arm as needed and even takes me grocery shopping. If your staying for awhile, it’s a good idea to form such a relationship. Luis knows the good ones. And the staff at the hotel always helped me in any way they could without my even asking. For all that is offered, the price at the Portola is very reasonable. And a tip for Canadians: unlock you’re cell phone before coming to Mexico and get a Mexican chip at any TelCel. The phone prices in Mexico are ridiculously cheaper than we pay at home. All and all, the Portola is a warm, friendly place to stay at a reasonable price,. I’m already looking forward to February 2021.

Positive: The bed sheats were really clean and made from good textile. The bed was very comfort. The host's english language was very well and he also was very helpful. Car parking was safe, behind of locked gates.. Negative: There was no peg nor hanger for clothes. We had all our things to pile on to floor, and unnessessary pillows and bedspreds as well. In the toilet, there was the shower, but no cabin nor curtain nor any barrier for shower water. So, it just overflowed and splashed onto the toilet floor. There also was no hot water, the same lukewarm water was coming from both water taps..
