Amazon coffee plantación. High altitude 1200m up on the hill tops. Great view great service. Wonderful old machines and original wood structures. A must see.

Odd. I’m in the middle of absolute no where, surrounded by jungle and things that eat people- and here was this super nice hotel. I wish I could live here!

The tagline - half a block from heaven - is spot on. Finca Hamburg is paradise. A challenging drive from Tapachula and not for the faint hearted if in a rental car, but worth every bump and rut. Do NOT trust Google maps for directions.

I did my best to highlight both my positive and negative experiences staying at Finca Hamburgo. Perfect place for a Day trip! The views of the valley are 10/10. Aside from the scenic views and a one hour coffee tour there’s not much to do here but lounge since all the other fincas are far away. They offer a $250 peso coffee tour(not included in the nights stay) and a $50 peso 2 minute sunrise walk. That’s why I think it’s perfect for ONLY a day trip. The hotel is a “boutique hotel” but I feel they could be slightly more detail oriented for the hefty price they charge for a night. I expected the cabins to be a little more private but found people lounging outside our room at all hours. Couldn’t siesta comfortably with people chatting outside our room. They have two pools and a jacuzzi that they only fill half way with water. The mosquitoes here will ATTACK YOU. So maybe a fan in the room or a mosquito net would’ve been nice. The food was good but not memorable. A Round trip ride from the airport to the finca will cost you $1800 pesos and a one way ride will cost you $1600! We arrived in a taxi so we had to pay $1600 pesos to get to the airport. Seems “a little” unfair. Especially knowing that our “private” shuttle was also taking a member of la Finca into town. We payed for our reservation through booking.com a month in advance and the staff claimed we didn’t pay it so they charged us twice for the room The finca received the payment from booking.com a day before we left but did not notify us! We only noticed once we got to the airport! Would they have pocketed both transactions if we didn’t bring it up? I 100% think so! We are now in the process of receiving our refund but we have to wait to see what method works as we do not have a Mexican bank account. I mentioned to the finca that they can transfer the money via PayPal or XOOM, but they have to get back to us on that. Ha-ha-ha The coffee tour was great and our guide was very informative and knowledgeable on the topic. An interesting fact I learned from the coffee tour is that the Mexican government invited the original owner to come to Mexico and help stimulate the economy and create jobs through the coffee farm. Now a days the finca sub contracts workers from Guatemala and pays them per kilo of beans they pick. Not a very ethical business and I don’t think it’s something I want to support. Cheers!

Amazing location if you can get here. We only spent a few nights in this relaxing stay rolling in the clouds! Literally we were hanging out in the cloud formation. Excellent service, just the best, 5 star service, really really! Great dinning and tour of the finca/plantation. I hope to return here someday and stay a bit longer.

Wow what an amazing experience visiting this charming coffee plantation. The owner Tomas is absolutely the kindest of people not to mention his family. We were given a tour of the plantation which is a must! The restaurant was an even bigger surprise - all the plates were delicious, from breakfast to late lunch / dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMEND stopping here. Worth the drive. Oh and the coffee was amazing too.

Truly a magical experience! The gardens here are stunning, the views breathtaking, the staff is lovely, food is fantastic and the coffee... superb! Cesar (whose English was great) provided a wonderful tour of grounds and informative tasting to follow. Be sure to get the correct directions (through Tapachula) from the hotel staff, GPS will take you the wrong way. From the Tuxtla airport it is about a 7 hour drive. I definitely advise being able to drive from Tapachula to Hamburgo (~2hrs) before the sun goes down - lots of pot holes and deteriorated areas in this final stretch. WELL worth the drive though!!

Staff at restaurant super friendly and helpful. Menu is excellent. Walking around the trails us pretty safe. Lots of friendly people all over the place. Rains quite frequently in the evenings.
