Hotel Gota de Sal - 77580 Puerto Morelos

The hotel itself is rather plain, but that's right up my alley. The front desk is helpful, and I can't say enough about the housekeepers. They're fantastic, and I got to know them in my time there. The hotel is right on the beach (pictures are from the back door of my cabana) and the view is stunning. Walking to city square takes five minutes or less. The hotel has an on-site outdoor food truck court, along with a bar. It's easy to grab a quick bite. About that... be very, very careful. I travel a lot and I know how to avoid pathogens. It may have been a fluke, but either the food or the shower water led to a typhoid fever infection with a coxsackievirus co-infection. I don't know the vector, so I'm hesitant to blame the hotel. Before you go, make *sure* to get inoculated... typhoid is nothing to mess around with and can quickly lead to death. That being said, the hotel itself was wonderful and I fell in love with it. It's rustic, but beautiful. Definitely worth a trip... and I plan on going back, pathogens be damned.

This is a perfect location on the beach. Staff very nice. Rooms rundown and beds and pillows are terrible. Too bad could be a 100 dollar a nite hotel with the location but need a renovation

Very polite staff. Beautiful clean big room! A/C and safe in the bedroom. Gorgeous beach front with a walk-down patio to the beach. We would recommend this place and come again!

Hotel has a great location. Very close to the beach and the town square. Some rooms face the beach others the pool. Beds comfortable, thin pillows. Hot water went out but was fixed quickly. Loud at night because of live music at the hotel. Bands played till 10:30. WIFI in the cabana front desk area,not in rooms. Stayed January 15th 3nights and payed 67$ US a night. Front desk gave better rate than any booking site. I would return. Not fancy but comfortable and convenient. Friendly staff.

Good value for the money, chill location with direct access to the beach. Enjoyed it!

Great staff, lovely pool, adequate rooms, close to most restaurants,. Some rooms a little rustic but clean and served our purpose.

Just look at the current reality of the place. The beach it's not part of the hotel, so they will charge you to use it. And the reception guy and the people on the beach were rude and never worn a face mask, even when they were approaching us.

A great place that helped me with more than just accommodation. They kept my bags safe in a locked room while I ended up passed out on the beach after my reservation was done. Unbelievable service.
