★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall good hotel for 1-2 nights stay. Breakfast was tasty but did not really include much healthy foods. Dinner service is better and cheaper in the small restaurants around. Hotel is clean and well kept. Friendly staff and nice swimmingpool. Would go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff at this hotel needs some serious training in customer service. I booked through booking.com to stay at this hotel and I personally came 3 days before to make sure they got my booking and to check the facilities (my mom needs easy access) to make my last decision among 3 other options. This was a present to my parents so it was important for me to have a good experience.
The day of my arrival they informed me that they were not getting paid by booking.com and therefore they couldn't give me a bedroom. I was supposed to pay at the hotel so his excuse sounded odd to me. This happened in a very busy week in Merida due to the "Tianguis turístico" so the options left were not great. The guy in charge handled the situation poorly and I got really mad at him. I refused to leave and he even theatened me on calling the police. I got very stressed and mentioned my mom's condition. He finally gave me a bedroom but not without making it clear he was doing me a favour and risking his job by doing so...unbelievable.
They didn't clean the bedroom once, the water in the swimming pool is too cold and that area never gets any sunlight all ( it was november). I called the reception to ask for a third towel and I had to go and get it myself cause it was taking ages and I found them chatting with each other. The ac in my bedroom was very loud and it was difficult to sleep even with earplugs.
I could have had a better experience at a cheaper hotel...
The positive:
The location is great and the facilities are well maintained. We liked the breakfast at the restaurant and our waiter was super nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is not a 5 star hotel. The best way to describe it is a 5 star entrance with 2 star rooms.
Entrance: beautiful, clean and well maintained but absolutely no one there to greet us at 1500 in reception. We waited for 10 minutes before shouting 'hola' at which point someone came to check us in. Once checked in, no one helped us with our bags.
Car park: this is just not five star. It is underneath a decaying and derelict office building and just looks like an abandoned concrete area. No security, no help with bags.
Room: we had one of the better rooms due to my privileges with booking.com. Where do I start... I'm sure in 2001 this room was amazing, now it is just dirty, broken and just about comfortable enough for a one night stay.
The fridge was filthy, the mirrors were not cleaned and had sticky marks and chunks of something on them. I couldn't take a photo as it was too difficult to capture unfortunately.
The bed had plastic sheeting on it like in a care home for the elderly to prevent bed-wetting.... Um what?!
The bathroom was just broken. The toilet took 3 attempts always to properly flush, the shower was broken and so were the taps in the bath... The sink had not been cleaned and nor has any of the mirrors or taps again.
In general the room was musty and had not been properly made up. Of course they put all of their COVID-19 BS everywhere telling YOU how to behave and sanitise but can't be bothered to clean their rooms properly to even pre-pandemic standards. Nice.
This is a two star hotel and for the price $1330 a night it is simply just ok. If they called themselves a 2 star hotel to begin with my review would have been considerably more pleasant. As it is, it is a very poor hotel and needs considerable mondernisation in the rooms.
Outside: the pool area is ok, but again very dated. The pool was clean and useable but the chairs surrounding it were very dated. The fabric was showing its age and they need replacing.
The good - the bed was comfy after removing the plastic padding and synthetic covers, the air-conditioning worked... That's about it.
To summarise - don't expect 5 star treatment..expect a 2 star hotel with a grand entrance. It's all a facade.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful hotel, with local architecture and good service, it is placed in Merida Downtown near to Tacos La Union. Room was a little beat pipe noisy and some upper areas into the bathroom needs to be cleaner. Beds are amazing and comfy
