We booked two nights at Mamazul and our stay has been absolutely wonderful. We prefer a boutique hotel experience - yes, this sometimes means a restaurant menu of limited, curated options, but we absolutely loved everything we ate at the restaurant here. Breakfast was included (which I forgot.. what a pleasant surprise!) and was incredible. We bought mezcal for gifts and they gift wrapped them beautifully for us. The location is about 15 minutes to the beach by cab, and I am so glad we are not staying in that area. It’s fine for shopping but loud and more crowded. Mamazul is small and intimate. The rooftop pool is beautiful and we never had to share it with anyone. We chose the Quiote room because I loved the daybed in the book, surrounded by windows. The neighborhood is quiet, up-and-coming. Everything you could want is a short walk from here. Most of all, the staff has been absolutely wonderful. I recently stopped drinking and was worried there would be a big push to indulge in alcohol, and was relieved to find it wasn’t that way at all. All expectations have been fully set out in their guest policy (I have read other reviews about being charged for towels - you are totally warned about that when you check in!). Enter with an open heart and you will not be disappointed.

Excellent service. Great atmosphere! What a hidden gem that we found last minute at 8pm for a night of stay. We were so happy we stumbled upon this place after a long day. Marcela the receptionist is so sweet and so kind. Very informative about the area! We felt taken care of. The room was very comfortable. Well air conditioning and clean. The cherry on top is the hammock balcony! Not to mention the food was fantastic. All sourced locally. The margarita was so smooth with their in-house tequila. Make sure to book through them and not other websites to get breakfast included with your stay! That was awesome as well. 100% recommend and we can’t wait to be back!

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars because the decor is beautiful and just as pictured and the staff is extremely nice. Unfortunately though I kept experiencing issues with the shower. First I had to leave the water for at least 5 minutes before hot water came out, I had to do this with every shower. Second there were multiple times throughout our trip when we had come back from the beach or sight seeing and wanted to clean up before dinner and nothing but a trickle came out of the shower. It was very disappointing. Also I think the towel policy is a bit ridiculous. We were charged 80 pesos for a face towel upon checkout because it had make up on it . Not the end of the world just very annoying.

Per my dissatisfaction sent to management. I would not recommend staying here unless you get a awesome deal as if you're staying at a hostel... I just wanted to reach to you about our visit to mamazul. Visiting Tulum for the first time, as well as mamazul. We initially were delighted to make it to Tulum, also to mamazul. The place nicely down, and off the beaten path. The staff was inviting and communicative, well mainly the afternoon evening staff. They left flowers for my fiance, that was nice. So initially we were pleased with Mamazul. We knew that Tulum was a little different from other towns from word of mouth, videos and reviews. But once getting settled in, we realized how excessively overpriced, and lacking Tulum is including mamazul. Although your bartenders are awesome, and make good mixed mezcal drinks. The food we felt was overpriced and lacked the gastronomy taste pictured. Breakfast was included but was very bland and basic, coffee was like water. The next day of our visit, before leaving out for the day. We decided that Tulum so far wasn't what we expected, overpriced, empty, and just hypocritical of what the theme is about it's oneness and nature. So we decided to leave early and visit somewhere else. We spoke with your morning host, who tried to be understanding. We asked her about getting possibly a refund for atleast one night. We were within the 24hr of two nights but thought atleast one night would be accommodated. She checked but told us unless it's for health reasons or something happening with the hotel, mamazul can't refund. We figured this would be the result considering the hypocritical mentality and business practices in Tulum. But it was worth a try. So right after this decision, we relaxed for a few before heading out. But then our water was not working, so we couldn't shower. So that's one issue with the hotel. Thankfully we were going on a boat adventure so it worked out. The temperature of our hot water for shower was unpredictable and the shower head is obsolete. After deciding to leave the next day, we just made the best of the night in town which was fun. Upon returning in to mamazul, the next morning by 6am we had NO POWER AT ALL. Now I'm thinking maybe the power is out for a bit, and went back to rest. By 10am their still was no power , no AC (whatever), only cold water with low pressure, no generator, nothing. the lobby restaurant was closed basically although they offered drinks and something to snack on. But it was basically desserted. The was just hanging around waiting, as if this happens all the time. So we asked your host again about the refund and issues, and she blamed it on the town not the hotel. Staying at Mamazul although a nice hotel and facility in concept. The money we paid for, for accommodations advertised was totally misleading and not up to par. If we would have known that issues like no water, low pressure, no electricity for hours... we Would have not stayed there. Maybe Tulum isn't for us, but for what is charged and advertised, we were completely disappointed. Fortunately we booked another hotel for Sunday and on, so we didn't have to stay at a powerless hotel that we paid for. I will say the bartender's and host were nice, made good cocktails. Best Regards

MUST MUST try this place! We’ve been here 4/5 times and will be back before we leave. Lalo is truly a gift to their business. He is studying to become the equivalent to a sommelier of mezcal. The food is beautiful and absolutely delicious. They can get VERY busy and can be understaffed so I recommend having a drink before you come, come early, or be chill about the service because it’s totally worth it.

The service here is wonderful and should receive 5 stars separately for that. Quiet boutique hotel in the jungle area. Decent restaurant. Rooms are spacious but not much of a view. Rent a motor scooter for a fun 10-minute drive to the beach and strip.

Hotel Mamazul is a great boutique hotel for your stay in Tulum. Particularly their restaurant is amazing! The mazcalitas drinks are great! The food is also great. Their attention to detail in the everything they do is top notch. I highly recommend staying or eating there.

Mamazul is lovely boutique hotel. Yes it is off the beaten path and not close to the beach however there is so much more to offer. The first half of my trip was spent here and Marcela treated me with the most kindness I could ask for. Breakfast was modest but filling. I did eat at the hotel one night for dinner and did the taco tasting and mazcal pairing. The stuffed pepper and octopus were my favorite. It was so delicious! All the staff were so nice and generous. On my last night I dropped my phone in a taxi and The staff helped as much as possible. The next morning once I told Marcela what happened she promised me she would do everything she could to try to find my phone. Within a few hours she had located the person who had possession of it! She was truly a godsend. I would absolutely stay at Mamazul again! And I will forever be grateful for Marcela! Thank you!
