Several years ago we booked a room at the Maria Cristina for the New Years Eve holiday. It was a pretty hotel but our vacation was ruined when there was a fluorescent light fire over our bed while we dined out. When we returned to the hotel late we found all our holiday clothes on the floor in the hallway. As if this wasn't bad enough we asked for another room and were told we couldn't be accommodated - leaving us to sleep in a blackened, horribly smelly room or find another at 3 in the morning. We chose the latter.

Beautiful completely remodeled and modernized distinguished hotel. Just 1 block from Paseo de la Reforma, but tranquil, exquisite garden patio to relax, eat, drink and plan your itinerary to explore Mexico City. Friendly and attentive staff, great room rates, excellent, wide variety of food in restaurant. You'll find a home base away from home and come back to visit time after time. It's a jewel time forgot that I have have enjoyed and my friends I've sent there for 27 years love. Very cosmopolitan variety of guests to share your stay with.

We found some things useless, like the mini bar, it was unplugged and sure has seen better days, found the towels of the last guest still on the floor of the bathroom. Staff was gentle and kind, even when we arrive past 12 am. I left my wristwatch on the table and return hours later, the maid found it and do the tag it and bag it, so i can ask for it at the lobby. Highly recommended for tourists.

I have stayed there several times since the sixties and have seen nice additions such as air conditioning. The neighbor has upgraded too. we love a shopping mall on Reforma that has a movie theatre sometimes shows a film in English.

Some friends have been staying here! The staff always friendly and we like to have breakfast or lunch at the little garden!

Lovely colonial building with gardens (mostly grass). Many rooms are small and dark with no view. Ask to see others. That's how I got one with a 'garden view'. The room was attractive, but definitely nothing special, just clean and comfortable (though the carpet is icky). The bed was a disaster...like a padded trampoline with no support. I had back issues after my first night ((I normally do not!). A few general staff were pleasant, but the desk staff was generally detached. One male at the desk was down right rude and snooty. Yet daily contact was a must to get the Wifi code. Luckily, I used to live in CDMX as the desk was not user friendly for directions or information. The location was convenient for me, but I hope never to stay here again. It was overpriced and unfriendly. I visit CDMX 3-4x a year. Unfortunately, my usually hotel nearby was booked several months in advance due to los días de los muertos (It Is small and cozy and I always have a balcony or private patio).

Very old building, bad service, poor restaurant and bad food. Use to be a good hotel but you can see the greedy in the management. Only survive the original XIX century furniture's at leaving room and the "Magdalena" fresco, probably XVII century barocco fresco.

Super well located and with a friendly staff. Even though it looks small, it has a nice garden, restaurant, hair salon, gym (yay!) and gift shop. Shops and restaurants are literally around the corner and the area is pretty nice to take a stroll or a bike ride as well. Maybe the only con would be that beds are a bit too bouncy and, apparently next to the same wall as the ones in the next room, so...if your neighbors are 'having fun', you'll definitely hear it ?
