SCAM Presentation Stay Away it is now going by Marina Vacation Club as of Jan 15, 2017. Attached are photo of presenter in pink shirt and other man came out and got in my face and threatened to take my phone because I was taking pictures to warn folks. I've read on trip advisor this place keeps changing names.

SCAM!!! BE WARNED!! Got stopped by Carlos who was camped by the El CID and promised 2 excursions and some tequila. Ended up sitting through a 2 hour presentation for buying into their "program" and they were going to buy my timeshare for 3 times what I paid for it.... the "general manager" Christina Torres offered a great deal but we backed out when they offered us so much for our current timeshare. These people are scammers and hopefully you catch these reviews before you go.... not after and find you wasted your time.

Ended up here when a pulmonia driver was supposed to take us to a Timeshare presentation (hey, I consider those presentations to be a vacation subsidy) at Mayan Palace, also here in Mazatlan. But the driver hijacked us so to speak, and took us to Hotel Marina and we attended their presentation without knowing about the hijack. What a bad experience. First we had to fill out some forms which seemed to indicate that all reasons for declining a purchase had to be initialed, such as have a credit card with at least 10K of available credit, that no one at home had to be consulted before a decision could be rendered, we had ID with the same address, and that our Timeshare was already paid off. I believe this is so they can say we didn't come in good faith, if we declined to purchase. Next we were given a small breakfast with a choice of breakfast options printed on a laminated card about 6x7 inches - no combining or substitutions. Not like other hotels where it's usually a [very nice] buffet. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Then we were given a tour of 3 bdr condo unit. Small rooms. Low budget-brand appliances. Small 42 inch TV screens. Told that 1 and 2 bedroom units were being constructed next door, but no evidence of any of that building could be seen. Also told that across the smelly saltwater cancel running directly behind the property was going to be new residential units for the El Cid brand. (But when I tried to inquire with El Cid Group, they said they had no idea what I was talking about and had no such plans.) Then we sat down with Eric (referred to in other reviews as "Greaseball") an American expat. He tried telling us he was going to make money by getting a tax break, and so could be extra generous in making us a deal. Guaranteed we could cancel the contract anytime for 6 months, and failing that we could still resell to them. He claimed his company was named Besati Corp, about which I could find exactly zero information on the Internet. He also claimed to be working with "Chicago Escrow", but I suspect he was just to stupid or thought we were, to realize the name of the company he was referring to is Chicago Title and Escrow. Again, after our fiasco, contacting Chicago Title, they never heard of him or Besati Corp, and actually seemed a little concerned he (Eric) might be using their name unlawfully. So his pitch was we could buy vacation weeks from his company's stable of resorts world-wide and he would buy our timeshares remaining 10 years for $36,000, more than 3 1/2 times what we paid for it, to PARTIALLY fund our purchase. But of course ONLY if you do it TODAY. Said no and he asked if we came just for the money. I said our agreement was you would give money if we attended the 90 minute presentation, not just or if we made a purchase. So he said okay, please just wait while I get my boss. I said oh, the closer, huh. "No, just a little quality control, make sure I'm doing my job, etc." But then a Mexican greaseball shows up and is the hard closer. Asked us at least 4 times if we came just for the money. I asked him if he thought we'd come for free. No answer. Finally takes us back to the front, says have a seat. We saw the Pulmonia driver who brought us walk in and receive some money, then leave - without us. Five minutes later, another dude comes along and says we can go back now in a waiting Taxi. I said we're not leaving g without the money you promised. Then he tells me that don't have it there because they had to go back to the bank to get it. I said you knew we were coming YESTERDAY, so why don't you have it? Well the bank's connection was down and they would get it and deliver it to our hotel by 4:30 (it was about 1:00 PM) . Needless to say, it never happened. These are sleazy, scummy scammers whose actual interest in the Marina Hotel is unclear, but the hotel's use makes me think they're working together. So the review of the hotel includes this sorry story. I also plan to file a complaint with Mexico's consumer watchdog Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Profeco) AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Is there something less than 1 star? These people are scammers! Supposedly they were offering $300 USD and some free activities to sit in on a 90 minute presentation. Then they offer to pay an obscene amount of money for our timeshare, but only after you pay them for their vacation membership. We decided against it, because we had a bad feeling about it, and were supposed to go for our activities the next day and get our $300, but they said they weren't offering it to us. After looking at other reviews about Dream Travelers Destinations, we found they also go by Travelers Choice International, and they claim to be part of GDS (Global Distribution Systems), and they have supposedly been doing this for years. I don't know how these people sleep at night taking advantage of people. Wow! Watch out for these people.

This place is a ''Boiler Room", where (A) the street side recruiter will offer you an obscene amount of gifts to attend the presentation, (B) once in the presentation, they'll offer your three to four times the original amount you paid for your timeshare. One of their "managers", (short, stocky, bald headed, grease ball) talks loudly (borderline yelling) at you, telling you how much they need your timeshare for a tax right off, in return they'll buy your timeshare and sell you on their vacation travel program. In the end, if you don't buy (please don't buy their program!) THEY WON'T GIVE YOU ANY OF THE GIFTS YOU WERE PROMISED! Our gift was cash, US $$. After the presentation they'll walk you out of their office, back to the entrance, AND LOCK THE DOOR BEHIND YOU! After a few minutes of waiting, another guy appeared and told us there was heavy rain in Guadalajara, and the phone lines were down so they couldn't get cash from the bank machine! LoL They'll promise to bring it to your hotel once the phone lines are 'fixed', just to get you to leave. If they do end up printing you a voucher of some sort, i wouldn't hold my breath that it's worth more than the ink it's printed on. This place is a total scam!
