Stayed here for 6 nights with our 3 year old. I am not sure how this hotel has 5 star reviews, they are totally misleading. -the hotel needs maintenance, rooms, beds (too soft), general areas like lights, bathrooms. - the rooms smell old and musky. - they changed our room on arrival as the bathroom lights didn’t work in the room that was initially given to us. - the towels provided are from another hotel, totally rags, falling into pieces, I have included pics, with holes in them. Same thing with the bedding, it’s old and needs to be replaced. - the curtain in the room is a joke, doesn’t cover the windows properly, another reviewer also mentioned this. Of course there’s no blackout curtains. - the internet doesn’t work. If you go sit in the lobby to work as there’s no connection in the room, the mosquitoes will eat you despite putting the mosquito spray. - the screws are getting loose on the toilet holder, curtain rod, etc causing hazard in the rooms they don’t do regular maintenance. - the hot water takes a while to come and it’s only lukewarm no hot. - the doors, windows and design of the hotel rooms is bad in a way that anybody walking normally in the hallway can be enough to wake you up. - the breakfast is repetitive. - the manager of the hotel Aljendaro is rude, disrespectful, non welcoming, arrogant and has bad witty/scarcastic humour which comes across as offensive. He’s tries to micro manage the guests at the hotel. The hotel is managed by him along with the people that work for him - his young son (who was very sweet), and two housekeepers (they were super sweet too). Anytime, you talk to any other persons working in the hotel, except for him, he shows up or follows up right away and you need to explain him your talk with the other people working there. One night our little one was overtired from travelling (not feeling well) and was crying 11:30pm at night, our room had lights off as we trying to put him to sleep, despite that, he knocked on our door at 11:45pm, we had to turn the lights on to answer to him and he asked us to control our child’s crying. Next day he stopped us again at the lobby and argued with us for 15 mins to control our child’s crying at night. We told him we are doing our best to calm him down and our child is not a machine but he being completely insensitive kept arguing and how the crying caused damage to his hotel by one other guest complaining about it to him. He’s non understanding and fussy. He has poor customer service skills. I recommend the owners to not keep him solely in-charge of the hotel. The only good thing he did was have our breakfast table ready and made sure our coffee cups are full. It’s a hostel termed as a hotel for backpackers, not family friendly. We won’t be returning and nor will we be recommending it to anybody else.

Stayed here with my family while visiting Merida. Lovely family owned hotel run by father and son who were super attentive and spoke English, Spanish, French, and probably more. Great location, breakfast, and service. Highly recommend!
