I went to an annual wine festival (Maridando Mexico) and everything was excellent, the food, the wine, the waiters, and the live shows. You must know there's a different entrance and cost ($40 pesos, about $2 dollars) if you want to visit the famous Chautla Hacienda (Ex-hacienda de Chautla), with Gillow's Castle.

The location and property is pretty but the hotel food is below average and it is difficult to get information at the hotel. If you go there, go into town to eat (breakfast is ok) and ask lots of questions from the staff about what is available because no information is provided.

The staff was friendly and the grounds were well maintained but that is sadly the only good thing I can say about it. We were there for one night for the firefly tour (very good by the way I recommend it) when we got back to the hotel we noteced there was some music coming from one of the confrence rooms. That was no big deal it was 11 at night there was time for the loud music to stop. But it didn't. 1am we called the front desk and they said that it would stop by 2 ok we can deal with that even though we didn't like the LOUD DRUNKEN kareoke. 2am came and went with it still going. We called again at 3 and 4 with no answer. It finally stopped after 4 in the morning. The next morning we got up and went to the breakfast that was supposed to be part of our package only to find out that it wasnt and that we would have to pay for it. At this point we were fed up. I had to spend a night dealing with drunken karaoke no internet and a bathroom that didn't lock. We had had enough. I don't recommend you going to this place because while the staff are friendly they wont help you with your problems.

A very quiet and amazing place, I strongly recommend it. That's a little bit expensive, but no too much places like this in San Martin.

Place is gorgeous, I want to go back again and take one of the tours because I was not able to. I did the boat, recommended, climb to the top of the tower and view is wonderful. Buffet was delicious. One thing I provided feedback to them while checking out : when I arrived, person did not offer me info about my room location, noting about restaurant and I ended up asking for a map of the property and help with my luggage which she did not ask if I had any.

Great place to go for the day. Or stay at hotel, cabins or camping. Clean and well managed. You can fish, even rent rods and bait etc. You can take the fish home or they can cook it for you. Worth visiting.

No air conditioning. Didn't see heat except for a clay oven. Bed was fairly comfortable though. Not worth staying if you can't take the heat.

When booking your stay at this hotel ask if they will host a group meeting during your stay as it might influence the quality of your stay. Hot water will run out, they have no control over noice of partying guests (up to 5am) and restaurant service will take forever… Also be aware that some rooms are very small and sofocating. The view from the restaurant on the lake is beautiful
