★ ★ ★ ★ ★ With a very (!) friendly host, this cheap place right in the center of Oaxaca City (270 pesos per night) may be your choice if you want a budget-friendly get-away place close to the markets and Zócalo Square. The place needs some maintenance, but Adrian (the host) is very attentive and cleans everything regularly. For the price I paid, I did not expect any room service but he changed all sheets and towels on the third day of my stay, and I even found my clothes neatly folded. I really appreciated that! Yet, this is one of the places without a 24h reception; to get access, you’d have to ring a bell, and Adrian of his wife open immediately afterwards. Though they usually close the place at nights, he offered me to call him in case I’d want to come home late after getting out. I can recommended going here, and would come again.
