Rooms are just okay and the restaurant is very convenient. Packed every morning that we were there, they serve a nice buffet with good omelets.

Nice and clean hotel, pool is small but for a quick dip does the job. Buffet breakfast is really good. Also great service.

The hotel is what you would expect from a business in southern Mexico. Halls are dimly lit, food is no better than you would find at a thousand hole-in-the-wall places on the street, and staff is immune to anything that would resemblance friendliness. I stayed here nearly a week and I could not get a single employee to smile or faintly fake they were glad to attend to me. The one nice exception was a young lady name "Gloria." She helped me with breakfast. She astounded me with a smile and honest demeanor to serve me. Her I.D. said "practicante" which I believe she is in training. She had yet to be corrupted by the others horrible attitude. Only the previous morning I had asked four different waiters to provide with me with a slice of ham for my toast. It seems the favorite words in the hotel industry in Mexico is "let me see," "It's not possible," or "no." The front desk staff is almost always flippant and unconcerned with the guest standing in front of them. They rather look at their personal cellphone, cut little papers with Wi-Fi codes, or chat with their fellow colleagues than say "Hello, can I help you." The other group that stands out for their honest friendliness is the cleaning staff. They are wonderful. They are accommodating and just nice. I think management needs to rethink it's training and selection process. Put all the cleaning and kitchen people in the front desk and all the surly and rude desk people cleaning rooms so they learn a little humility and customer service skills. If you want to spend your money in accommodations go somewhere else. They are all very similar. However, at San Francisco you know the customer service level you will get. At the others it might turn out to be a nice surprise.

I really loved this hotel, the room was big, very clean, the bed enormous and comfortable, it has a big desk very comfortable to work the computer, make drawings, writing, lots of room in that desk, the air conditioner cools perfect, the bathroom is very spacious, lots of water in the shower, the staff is very friendly, I loved the staff, they have a restaurant with very delicious food, prices are not high, the pool is nice, and the weather is perfects for a late swim at night.

I'm living down the street from the Hotel San Francisco. It's a tall hotel for Tapachula, and at least part of the place is air conditioned: I see the AC units on the outside ledges of the building. But at some point in the day or estancia, either the hotel or the guests toss their bedding out open windows, from which it hangs to air, dry or something. The lobby, whose outside door is always open, doesn't seem to be air conditioned. In case you desperately need air conditioning during your stay, and in case there's none in your room, there's an attached bar that advertises air conditioning. Otherwise, there's a cooled OXXO a block up on 8th Street and a roomy Farmacia Guadalajara a block east of that OXXO on 8th Street. If you feel you must buy something at OXXO to justify cooling there but don't want to, offer to buy something for five pesos with a 200 peso note. They'll refuse the sale and you'll be freely refreshed for free. If you're the kind who enjoys a drunk at dawn, you're in luck here. Just a block or two south of the hotel on Central, just outside the walls of the Mormon compound, is a row of day bars where the people noisily tie one on throughout the heated days. Beyond the day drinkers is a public market, we call them mercados, a nice little park named for an important Mexican aviator back in the day, a relatively large grocery store, a delightful community center with two railroad museums, a free clinic and various delightful dogs whose residence this unavoidable place is. There are also covered canchas, mostly basketball courts, for those more in fit than I, an old cow.
