★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The safest place. The sanitary mesures for Covid are being taken super seriously there. I'm a nurse and I was impressed. The personal is also doing a lot of extra miles to help you organize your stay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I definitely recommend this place. The staff is very helpful, you're in the center of the city with great access to all the activities there (and still only a five or ten minute walk to either shore / beach), and the price is reasonable. The room was very clean and came with both a fan and A/C, though I wished the windows had screens on them as we didn't want to let bugs in, but the outside temperature was perfect (in February).
We stayed here in a room with a kid's loft (without any kids, but it was what we could get on short notice). The loft was really cozy and probably great for a kid you can trust to handle a ladder on her own. It's technically "stairs", but is so steep, the distinction for little hands might be small. The loft itself is really cute and our 7 year old niece that visited us loved it and wanted to stay there rather than at the resort they were at.
The wifi was spotty, but then, so was cell data on the island, usually at the same times. Not just a problem in this hotel, but all over the island (unless at the big resorts maybe). Bandwidth often cycled up and down between 2Mbps and 0. Usually good enough for the internet, but I wouldn't want to try and do real work here over a VPN.
Breakfast was basically a continental breakfast, but we usually skipped it and ate at one of the many restaurants nearby. The hotel is situated on a walking street over several restaurants, shops, and bars, and we had a street view for our stay. It was noisy, but the noise died down around 11:30 each evening and was very quiet by midnight. The noise often started up again between 5 and 7 am, so if you're not comfortable sleeping in a "city" environment, you might ask for a room that doesn't face the street.
The hotel rents towels for taking out of the hotel for a deposit of about $10USD (you can exchange them for clean ones at any time) and rents out an in-room safe for a deposit of about $20USD. We had no problems with anything "going missing" throughout our stay and while usually only the front desk staff spoke English (or felt comfortably that they could), the entire staff was great and very helpful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small, family run hotel in the heart of Isla Mujeres. You can’t beat this location - it’s right on the main shopping street in town and a 5 minute walk to Playa Norte. Our room also had a balcony above that street - a bonus if you want to sit out and enjoy the atmosphere with a drink or cup of coffee. There are several excellent restaurants within 1000 feet. The restaurant in the hotel itself is quite good - I had a delicious fish filet for dinner and the total came to less then $9 US.
The rooms are small but very clean with fans and good working AC. Because this is a busy area you may hear some street noise, however with our fan and AC up it wasn’t a concern. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.
Each morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast (delicious fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, coffee, tea). You can checkout towels from the front desk to use at the beach. There is a deposit for this as well as if you want to use the safe in the room.
I would highly recommend if you’re someone who wants to be close to everything in a clean and comfortable hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a very enjoyable experience at Hotel Bucaneros! The room was always very clean and we had fresh towels every day, the bathroom was also clean and well stocked, the included breakfast at the hotel was very inviting and yummy, and the overall attitude of people that worked at the hotel was very positive! The location of the hotel is very nice- just right on the main walking area. At night, we could hear some of the street noise from our room but it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake. We were on the third floor and our window faced north. I hope to be back to Isla Mujeres to visit Hotel Bucaneros in the future!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in 2 different rooms because the bigger one was just free for 3 nights.
Both of the accommodations were cozy, clean and we really felt like home there. The furniture and the decoration are made with love and the staff is very friendly.
The location is great - in between lots of restaurants, shops and a 3 minutes walk away from 2 of the beaches of Isla Mujeres. It's also just a 5 minutes walk away from the ferry terminal, what is great when you arrive with a lot of luggage.
The breakfast was delicious, a lot of healthy and organic stuff and for the ones who like it sweet, there is a great variety of cakes, muffins and donuts :)
We loved our stay here and enjoyed every minute :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I was in desperate search for a nice hotel I came across this little family owned business. Without Covid restrictions it might be loud due to the bars and restaurants and it’s prominent Location. However when I stayed everything closed at 2300 so my sleep was almost guaranteed (except for some rude and drunk other guests that sang and laughed horrible loud during one night at 0500 in front of my door.. but that’s nothing the hotel can prevent in a tourist location like this. Talking about the hotel itself I can say that it’s very clean and the first I noticed is the Good Covid-19 prevention and disinfection Job they do at this hotel. Also the rooms were very clean and they have special covers over sinks in the shower to avoid cockroaches coming through the pipes at night (which other hotels don’t do.. ) the receptions Jesus (who is operating this business together with his mother Hilda) speaks very well English and is the most friendly and funny person I’ve seen for quite a while. He and „the senora“ provided help with any thing I needed. Be it a transport to the airport or anything else. If I’m allowed to say. I already love that place and I will definitely come back in the future as I had the feeling to be a friend and not just a guest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super friendly staff, small but perfectly equipped room! Breakfast is simple, but gives a good start in the day. Location is on the heart of nightlife. 1 star less because our room was towards the street and quite loud. Every morning there are the garbage men, which makes you wake up early :-)
