Jason was a wonderful host, has a beautiful property and plenty of suggestions when we asked where to eat/what to see. Gorgeous Brazilian wood trims the stairway railings and is used in much of the furniture. I would describe the property as "Gypsy/Bohemian Chic!" Don't forget to enjoy the rooftop patio during your stay and visit the gift shop as well. There are some hidden gems there, so be sure to look twice. Wifi was great, h2o available for drinking, Netflix on the TV, and secure parking for our large truck.

El Quelite is a beautiful, genuine little mexican village. Friendly people, authentic food, and nice shops. Chickens run the streets and there are horses tied under trees outside homes, which are brightly colored and festive.

Authentic Hacienda-Style Hotel - Hidden Gem in historic El Quelite! I luckily stumbled upon this rustic and charming owner-occupied hotel nestled in the central part of the town on a cobblestone road and it turned out to be the highlight of my entire month-long trip to Mazatlan! From the colourful tiled outside structure to the third floor roof-top private terrace (complete with hammock for relaxing afternoon siestas and/or romantic evening stargazing)- spending a night or two night in rural El Quelite is the perfect authentic Mexican experience if you are looking to go back in time and escape the usual generic tourist visit when staying in Mazatlan. The owner, Jason, is completely bilingual and very helpful on making suggestions on where to eat, etc. There is an artisanal shop attached to the main structure on the property which sells everything from high-end vintage lighting and pottery pieces to hand-made Frieda Kahlo momentos. Right across the street is the 8$ bus that goes to and from Mazatlan several times a day. As a single woman traveling alone I felt completely safe at all times and met lots of helpful & kind locals while wandering the historic streets and shops enjoying homemade organic Mexican ices, tequila tastings, local Mexican restaurants and, of course, the fantastic homemade margaritas! Call owner Jason direct off of his fb page and he can help you navigate the bus into town! Have fun! :)

Amazing village, absolutely loved thestay. The place was clean, secure, and the owner is awesome. We ended meeting in Mazatlán the next day to grab breakfast!! This hotel and village is definitely worth your time, it's known for traditional Sinaloan food among other things.
