Hotel Zulum - 77760 Tulum

Sleep is impossible here. Party insomniacs only. As objectively and fairly as I can as I appreciate the receptionist (Alejandra) who worked with me to salvage the situation This is not a family or well being destination as indicated on the website. Loud music that makes the room tremble (third floor and not immediately streetside) until 3 AM. Even with EarPods playing chill music I couldn’t drown out Cardie B’s WAP. After one sleepless night I asked to check out early as I hadn’t reserved nonrefundable. This caused all sorts of stressful debate, insistence that the noise issue was indicated (it’s not - it’s still not on Bookings or website; I felt so awful that two young women were checking in To say they were relocating out of town to get away from noise! Wrong place!). I stayed an extra night. Even worse. I recorded the sound through closed windows and played it the next day. I checked out two days early, scrambled to find another hotel, but at least was refunded the two nights. I found a quieter spot - they do exist in Tulum even in the beach. It’s a shame as the property itself is solid: - Beach: beautiful and without rocks. - Restaurant: food is ok but the view is amazing. - Breakfast: as many reviewed is poor given you are in Mexico, the land of delicious food to die for. - Rooms: basic but tastefully rustic. No A/C BUT they note that unlike the nightclub and deafening 3 am noise so that’s a traveller's choice. - Service: hit or miss depending on the matter. Don’t ask where anything is (bike rental, markets, where to eat, etc.).

1. I really dont like the way the horses and donky’s are kept. They are not properly taken care of.. (sorry to judge but i’m a vet myself) 2. If you are looking for any sort of rest; RUN! There will be very loud music every night from several areas, the latest until 7 in the morning. Even the rooms furtest away are impossible to sleep in 3. Don’t order pizza… I was sick the same night

Hotel was cute and rustic. Beautiful beach just steps away. Be warned, in our garden level room we heard LOUD music and bass from a bar across the street from about 4pm to 2am. Definitely made it hard to relax and sleep.

DON‘T STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP! All in all it’s been the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. The rooms don’t have any AC and it’s HOOOOT. I mean… really hot. It’s almost like there is no air to breathe. Also there is only salt water in the bathrooms. And if you shower the whole bathroom is completely soaked in water sind the water comes out of a shell in the middle of the bathroom. But the worst part is the Bar/Club right across the street. They play the loudest music you will ever hear until 5-6 am in the morning… every single day!! And since the rooms don’t have real windows it seems like the DJ is standing right next to you while you lay in bed. We’ve talked to so many guest who also stayed in the hotel and all of them have been exhausted and only wanted to leave. Long story short… I would never recommend staying at Hotel Zulum.

Lovely views, but it is IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP here because of the bar across the street. The loud music makes the rooms tremble until 2 am. I cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone that wishes to relax or sleep during their stay.

Good location but unfortunately nothing else. We stayed for one week, call it bad luck or not, we had a bad experience with poor rooms that the water stopped working 3 times for over 30 minutes meanwhile we took a shower, the electricity shot down also twice and when we went to check it at the front desk, we been told it’s a known problem and we should be patient, “whenever it will turn back on we will see” they said. Another bad experience was when they made our beds with dirty red stains on the sheets (looks like blood on the pillow) and left it without to replace upside down like no one will notice. Finally, when we asked to move to a different room where the shower literally works, the lady from the front desk got inside our room without knocking the door while I was in the bathroom and I’ve never felt so embarrassed and surprised to be seen naked by here. I don’t wish this experience to anybody!! We just tried to enjoy our vacation and relax. To this hotel I’ll definitely won’t come back!!

Location Location Location, not the most important when it comes to Zulu Hotel. Cons far outweighs the pros. Starting w Pros: good location, at the heart of the party scene and access to beach. Surrounded by trees but most of that area is anyway. The food is good and they serve a variety. CONs: 1) Rooms are extremely hot and uncomfortable. They have semi working fans but not enough to cool off. No A/C. Had to leave door open (exposed) to get some minor ventilation. 2) LOUD Music non stop from 5pm to almost 4am every day. You will not sleep well (loud music and hot rooms). 3) Water not working multiple times a day (reading from previous reviews this is a recurrent problem). I cannot in good heart recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay somewhere else.

Loved The restaurant food, location and staff, great spot to sit with morning coffee Design of the rooms - at the back of the property on a wooden balcony Beachfront location Not so good Ceiling fans didn’t cool the room so it was HOT! Club opposite bangs out loud music through the night so you will need ear plugs if you want to sleep Sweet donkeys in yard opposite rooms but they never left their small pens in 5 days and we’re exposed to the loud music. Someone please let them go to a happier location.
