HOTEL52 - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Expect a very budget stay. It's far from 5ave and the rooms aren't great. Our AC unit was leaking all the time we were there. Bathrooms dont have doors nor windows. It only worked for us bc we literally just used it to sleep. I did like that they offered very cheap and reliable laundry service which was a huge plus for our trip.

The hotel is located near 5th ave. But the room quality was very low. The reception staffs didn't care about customer satisfaction. We had a problem with toilet, which doesn't work well! We asked for change the room, and they said not possible (we checked via booking.com and it has room empty). So they suggest us if you are not happy you can cancle reservation!!! Not reconmended! If you are at the place you can find better options rather than this hotel.

Some staff were not friendly some were. The toilette flush did not work at the first day, the battry of the door as well. The room and the bath were not what we expected. They did not changed our room asked us to go through check out and check in process. The break fast is not buffet, one has to choose between to choices. At the end of 5th ave. Free parking place in the street.

Roof terrace was great! Really close to beach etc. Very bad air in some of the rooms with no windows (we had to change rooms), but the new room was top floor and insanely loud as the upstairs roof kitchen and terrace started at 6am or something, couldn't sleep.. will not stay here again.

Pros -great location if you want to sleep at night, 25 minutes to the center of the city, but for that you get a calm night, if you are lucky and your neighbors are not party animals. We were sleeping for the whole two weeks great -modern look, for someone maybe too simple, I have found it okay -English speaking receptionist -enough space by pool to chill -on room 307 great wi-fi -combination of A/C and fan is nice -comfortable beds -safe on the room for free -towels for beach for free -cheaper entry to Martina´s beach club – ½ price -overall great price/performance ratio, you get for what you are paying for + calm location Cons -the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had! Choice between eggs and pancakes. I cannot eat eggs and I wanted the pancakes I could get only two small pancakes(you can´t get more, they tell you it would be extra), that is rather a dessert than breakfast for a day full of trips, only once juice – orange juice – made from powder, really bad. And the worst on it, the breakfast is not in form of a buffet, you have to wait for it, usual waiting time for breakfast is 25 to 40 minutes, which means you need at least an hour to finish your breakfast. Don´t pay extra for the breakfast, use of many breakfast spots nearby, almost every opens at 7am and offer wonderful breakfast for a reasonable price(usually 20€ per two persons for a huge breakfast including drinks) -really bad pool, the roof is great, really nice to chill, but the pool was for 8 days really dirty, not that some dirt was laying in there, but the water was green and you could not see through, after 8 days was the pool cleaned as many guest had a problem with it, after it the pool was okay to use, but still to clear. We have visited other hotels pools(yes you can pay entry to the pool by lot of hotels in PDC) rather than using our – in those times was a lot of seaweed in the sea and beaches were unusable (March 2022). -no cocktail by the pool, if you would like to chill by the pool with margarita, you have to visit different hotel -the quality of the building and rooms is bad, it was built really cheaply, there was dropping water the ceiling on our room, it has to be repaired twice and they still were not able to repair it -the floors are looking really dirty on the room, with wine, maybe blood droplets, my feeling was only vacuum cleaner was used, no mopping, which is by concrete floor bad. -holes in the towels on the room, they should not be used anymore -everything was so cheap on the room, only the bed was great -no ability to contact reception from the room, no advice on the phone how to call reception -the whole hotel is like a cave, in the night it was calm, but the cleaning of room was starting at 6:30am so we were wakened up every morning because of the bad acoustic of the hotel -from the roof you are looking on an abandoned building full of homeless people -towel service by pool starting at 9am, sometime even later

Hotel is perfectly located - close to 5th avenue and close to the beach. Staff is very supportive and always welcomes you with a smile. Rooms are super spacious and well maintained (cleaning lady comes everyday). At the roof-top there is a nice pool with sunbeds and cafe, where you can enjoy a tasty breakfast. Absolutelly worth to recomend for holidays in Playa del Carmen

Nice spot if you are looking for a more quiet area. You can easily walk to and down 5th from the hotel which is nice. My only complaint is our room didn't have a full length mirror, it looked like there was a spot for it but it was missing. Hotel staff did a great job cleaning the room daily while we were out.

The food was really good. We were surprised with free breakfast during our stay, we tried a different option everyday and everything was delicious. The beds are super comfortable. The shower did not have a shelf to store toiletries so we had to keep them on the floor. There is not a microwave or room fridge. Housekeeping came daily and tidied up. On site Covid testing available. About 3 blocks from the beach and all the restaurants/shops. Would stay again.
