★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Histórico lugar que resguarda la librería del CIESAS y el Laboratorio de Sistemas de Información Geográfica. Puedes encontrar publicaciones de las diferentes sedes del Centro, para acceder al Laboratorio debes realizar cita previa por correo.
Normalmente aquí tienen lugar seminarios, conferencias y exámenes de grado.
Historic place that protects the CIESAS library and the Laboratory of Geographic Information Systems. You can find publications from the different headquarters of the Center, to access the Laboratory you must make an appointment by mail.
Seminars, conferences and degree exams usually take place here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Casa Chata es muy bella, hay una librería con una gran cantidad de titulos en Antropología, además de ser la sede del Laboratorio de Lengua y Cultura Víctor Franco, donde se elaboran materiales didácticos en lenguas indígenas y del Laboratorio de Sistema de información Geográfica.
The Casa Chata is very beautiful, there is a bookstore with a large number of degrees in Anthropology, as well as being the headquarters of the Víctor Franco Language and Culture Laboratory, where teaching materials in indigenous languages and the Geographic Information System Laboratory are produced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La fachada principal del inmueble se encuentra en la esquina de Hidalgo y Matamoros, la cual está recortada en forma de ochavo, de ahí que se conozca como la casa Chata.
Se dice que en sus inicios fue una casa de campo que contaba con una huerta y grandes jardines y que posteriormente fue utilizada como aduana; más adelante fue seminario protestante y también sirvió como cuartel zapatista.
Hasta 1960 fue un museo de charrería. Hoy en día es librería y laboratorio de Lengua y Cultura del Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social.
Destaca la belleza de su puerta tallada en madera, la cual sustituyó a la puerta original que fue quemada cuando el inmueble fue cuartel zapatista.
The main facade of the property is in the corner of Hidalgo and Matamoros, which is cut in the shape of an ochavo, hence it is known as the Chata house.
It is said that in its beginnings it was a country house that had an orchard and large gardens and was subsequently used as customs; later it was a Protestant seminary and also served as a Zapatista barracks.
Until 1960 it was a museum of charrería. Today it is a library and laboratory of Language and Culture of the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology.
Highlights the beauty of its wooden carved door, which replaced the original door that was burned when the property was a Zapatista barracks.
