This church together with the head of Seybaplaya was founded in 1682 and by the year 1790 it had 1217 inhabitants and by the year 1852 the census was 329 this decrease in the population was caused by the cholera morbus of 1855 and later in April In August 1915, it was black pox as a result of these diseases, the survivors emigrated, leaving the old town in ruins.
