★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The institute itself is not usually open for public visits, being a research and education facility. However, the Botanical Garden is right there and it's great for a walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Botanical Gardens at this Institute are interesting and have several activities on the weekends trying to preserve and promote Mexican flora. They also have a nice shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The gardens have a wonderful collection of plants especially cactus and succulents. Unfortunately, maintenance could be better. There was trash to be picked up and old, worn, and damaged signs or no signs at all. Still, the gardens are worth your time to visit.
