★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Itzamkanac; puerto fluvial de gran importancia y ruta natural entre el Petén y la costa de Campeche. La historia indica que hacia 1525 Hernán Cortés, enterado de la importancia comercial del puerto, lo visitó en su marcha hacia las Hibueras, Honduras. Para poder continuar su viaje abrió sendas y fabricó grandes puentes de madera de los que el cronista Villagutierre, hacia el año de 1700 escribió que algunos de ellos permanecen y se llaman los puentes de Cortés. El periodo de ocupación humana en El Tigre abarca desde el Preclásico Medio (600-300 A.C.), hasta el Protohistórico (1557 D.C.).
Después de 495 años; se ha realizado una ceremonia para reconstruir nuestro pasado y seguir el camino que fue interrumpido por la invasión.
Itzamkanac; river port of great importance and natural route between Petén and the coast of Campeche. History indicates that around 1525 Hernán Cortés, aware of the commercial importance of the port, visited it on his way to Las Hibueras, Honduras. In order to continue his journey, he opened paths and manufactured large wooden bridges of which the chronicler Villagutierre, around the year 1700 wrote that some of them remain and are called the Cortés bridges. The period of human occupation in El Tigre ranges from the Middle Preclassic (600-300 B.C.) to the Protohistoric (1557 A.D.).
