Ixi'im Restaurant - 97816 Chocholá

This was our second time eating at Ixi'im. We loved it the first time. This visit we were celebrating my mom's birthday with more of our family who were visiting from the states. About a month ago, we emailed the restaurant to explain to them both the occasion and the dietary restrictions of my aunt. We had several emails going back and forth giving details on what she can and cannot eat due to medical reasons. They said they fully understood and would prepare something special that she could enjoy. We got there yesterday and they had NO idea about the dietary restrictions that we had previously specified and they had no idea it was my mom's birthday. We had to go through the entire tasting menu, telling them yet again what wasn't ok for her to eat (which was a huge portion of the menu). They had nothing special prepared, as they said. When they began to serve the tasting menu for all 5 of us ($2500 pesos per person, $3900 for the wine pairing - which 2 of us got), the plates they put in front of my aunt were literally just the protein on a plate, or one puree that she could eat. They did not try to substitute ANYTHING. Just gave her basically empty plates with a couple bites of food. They decided to charge us FULL PRICE for her meal for the most pathetic, overcooked plates of food I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely no apology for completely dropping the ball on incorporating her dietary restrictions into the meal. There was also nothing special served for my mom for her birthday. I've never experienced such inconsiderate service from such an expensive restaurant. We ended up paying nearly 1000 USD (20,000 pesos). I used to recommend this place, I never will again.

If you are not staying at Chablé Resort, you can still dine at Jorge Vallejo’s restaurant. We visited while returning to Mérida from Uxmal. It’s a bit out of the way, but worth it for an incredible foodie experience. The service is impeccable, the cocktails amazing and the food adventurous and very good.

The most beautiful restaurant, great food (try the tasting menu with wine pairing) and the best of all, Bernardo! He made us feel so welcomed and explained every detail, made our dinner unforgettable!

A beautiful experience for lunch. Treated very well ,ordering specialties of the region with the waiters explaining ingredients used in the dishes. Our tour of the restaurant was breathtaking, then a visit of the canché herb gardens that are used in the kitchen by the chefs.

Nouveau Mayan tasting menu. The proportions were perfect, and the drink pairings were very complimentary. Very exclusively located in a heavenly site; worth the travel from Merida.

World-class restaurant with incredible food and service, isolated in the Yucatan country side, approximately 45 minutes from downtown Mérida. Definitely worth the trip. Staff is extremely friendly. They have more than 3000 tequilas on display - if you are a fan of tequila, this is a must on your bucket list.
