Desde 1995 la UNESCO declaró el 23 de abril como el Día Internacional del Libro. En el marco de esta celebración, la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México se ha encargado de fomentar la lectura entre la comunidad universitaria y el público en general a través de la Fiesta del Libro y la Rosa que tiene como sede principal el Centro Cultural Universitario en donde los asistentes pueden encontrar una amplia oferta editorial con atractivos descuentos, además de diversas actividades culturales y artísticas.
