★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La educación infantil o educación preescolares el nombre que recibe el ciclo formativo previo a la educación primaria obligatoriaestablecida en muchas partes del mundo hispanoamericano. En algunos lugares, es parte del sistema formal de educación y en otros es un centro de cuidado o jardín de infancia y cubre la edad de 0 a 6 años.Generalmente se empieza a los 3 años.
El término «preescolar» está en desuso actualmente, ya que no es una educación que prepara para la etapa escolar, sino que es un nivel educativo con características propias, enseñanzas que preparan al niño para la vida, y no un preparatorio para escuela primaria. Por ello es que muchas instituciones deciden denominarla como educación inicial.
Esta institución tiene y ha tenido otras diversas formas de ser denominada según el país, el sistema educativo vigente o la edad concreta del niño, como son educación inicial, educación kinder, educación infantil temprana, escuela infantil, guardería, jardín de infancia, jardín infantil, parvulario, kínder, kindergarten, jardín de infantes, jardín maternal, etc.
Los primeros años de vida en el ser humano son fundamentales para el desarrollo futuro de las habilidades requeridas, por eso etapa infantil debe y requiere ser estimulada en todos los sentidos, creando y generando aprendizajes que en la vida futura serán básicos para la vida.
La educación inicial es la educación que el niño recibe en sus primeros años de vida (0 a 6), esta es una etapa muy importante en el desarrollo del niño, ya que se influencian el desarrollo de habilidades físicas y/o psicológicas, fomentar su creatividad, se le enseña a ser autónomo y auténtico; aspectos que servirán para abrirse en el mundo por sí solo. Para ello, a lo largo de la historia, hubo autores como Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotski, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Fröbel, María Montessori que desarrollaron teorías psicológicas y pedagógicas que han permitido entender cómo piensan los niños, cómo aprenden, su razonamiento e inteligencia.
La Educación Inicial es un derecho de los niños; es el derecho a recibir educación, y al tratar con niños pequeños, el aspecto de la crianza aparece relacionado, una crianza de calidad que, aportando una mirada pedagógica ayudará no solo al niño, sino también a su familia, a comprender las necesidades físicas y psicológicas del infante. No debemos olvidar que el compromiso del personal docente y de apoyo para cumplir con los propósitos que se hayan planeado, es muy similar al de la familia, pero no la reemplaza sino que la complementa.
Con la educación inicial se pretende garantizar un desarrollo armónico para el niño, y por ello se cuenta con un programa pedagógico y su operación compete a todos los adultos que se relacionan y ejercen una influencia en los menores, pueden ser sus familiares o personal especializado en educación. Se brinda en dos modalidades: escolarizada y no escolarizada.
La edad de los niños comprendida es entre los 0 a los 6 años. Estas edades se dividen en dos ciclos: primer ciclo, comprendido entre los 0 y 3 años; y un segundo ciclo, que va de los 3 y los 6 años de edad. Estos aprenden la forma de comunicarse, jugar e interactuar con los demás apropiadamente. Un maestro les ofrece varios materiales para manipular y realizar actividades que les motiven a aprender el idioma y su vocabulario, Matemáticas, ciencias, idiomas extranjeros e Informática, así también como Arte y Música.
