Super friendly and welcoming people, comfortable beds and good food. They helped fill in the gaps we missed in our packing for Orizaba and made our climb go as smoothly as possible. Highly recommend

Great place to start your Orizaba cliimb. We were able to arrange with them transportation to Piedra Grande hut on a short notice (after foolishly attemptying to drive there in a rental car). After the climb we stayed for a night. Had a shower and a delicious dinner. The place is clean and the stuff is nice and friendly.

Is a nice place, good food. And the best transportation to the mountains!!! Everything went well, in time and order !!

Very friendly staff and a nice hot shower. The beds are pretty comfortable and the location is great to get to the mountain. 250 pesos for a night plus 90 pesos for a delicious breakfast. If you wanted to climb the mountain I think they do tours here but I did not personally do one. Instead I rode my motorcycle up to the base camp.

Three of us stayed there over the holidays to summit Orizaba. They are very transparent about pricing and what is included. Also, Maribel and Joaquin are very friendly and welcoming. Maribel speaks great english and is and excellent cook. Joaquin has excellent stories about the mountain and his climbs. We stayed 2 nights there plus 1 on the mountain. They offered several gear rental options - we only took the standard isobutane canisters (same as in the U.S., like MSR), but we didn't even ending up needing that because we used Joaquin's propane 2 burner stove, which is a permanent addition to the shelter/hut at basecamp. It was very easy to get up and down in their 4x4 SUVs, despite adverse weather and poor cell service. When we were there, there was a large group from Mexico City that was 'stranded' there, since the roads were washed out shortly after we came down in a storm - so the hostel was very full, busy, and loud or 2nd night there. Despite this, Maribel and Joaquin did a great job accomodating us. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to climb Orizaba.

Joaquin and Maribel run a wonderful hotel/hostel that truly made my experience climbing Orizaba so enjoyable. They are so kind and welcoming. They invite you into their own home for dinner and breakfast each day. The accomodations are very clean and nice. If I ever come back I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
