Johannes Comfort Food and Bar - 97000 Mérida

Wow! Our first night visiting and already in love with the freshness and quality of the food here. We had the guacamole, fish tacos and cauliflower tacos and every bite was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to trying breakfast here before we head back to the USA.

I had dinner there with two friends. The ambiance is great and the staff was very courteous and attentive. I am giving a 3 star because of the food. We ordered salmon and chicken. The preparation and flavor was plain but good, however the portions were quite small. The three of us were still hungry after our main course. The salmon was served with a very small amount of mixed vegetables and the carrot puree was decorative. I think that a more substantial side dish as well as maybe some bread (which is quite inexpensive) would make a huge difference. I hope this is not taken as an offense. I believe this restaurant has great potential and so this is only meant as constructive criticism.

We've been here multiple times and it was a delight every time. They have a great selection of meals and many of them are vegetarian. Every meal we had was delicious. We especially enjoyed the grilled chicken breast with very tasty and well seasoned vegetables. Also the service personal is very friendly and attentive. We were served by both Nelly and Mario. Both greeted us warmly and treated us very courteously. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and the music is at a comfortable volume. We are looking forward to our next visit. =)

I wish I had taken a picture. The place is a beautiful secret hidden oasis! You can even see into the beautiful stainless steel kitchen and watch your food being prepared should you wish. The chef came out and handmade our drinks and personally delivered them before taking our dinner order. He also personally delivered our meal and the presentation was flawless! He is a diamond star chef tucked away in a world of wonder. I am a vegetarian and the extensive menu options for non meat dishes is better than any restaurant I have ever been to that is not just for vegans and vegetarians. He was very passionate about what he creates and has a beautiful soul. It is definitely a place you just relax and take your time no rush. I cannot wait to go back when I am again. In the area. I want to try everything breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So so delicious!!!

One of Merida's best places to have brunch, food, relax - virtually everything. It's Dutch owned. Staff and service 11/10. They have Dutch poffertjes. Beautiful patio and colorful design. Tip; ask the owner about the poffertjes-making process. It's an interesting story

What a beautiful setting for breakfast. I could have sat there all day. The service felt personal and attentive. I will definitely be back. The food was delicious.

This place is supreme! The best of the best that Merida has to offer! Excellent food at unbeatable prices, fantastic atmosphere, and extremely courteous and friendly staff! Consider this review also a shout out to Mario and Rodrigo who waited on us during our very first experience at Johannes! They were the absolute best! I took some photos of the meal that I had (see below) but there's so much more to the menu (and this place) then what you see here! Vegetarian (and vegan) options are available and the chefs will modify meals if necessary to suit your culinary appetites, tastes, and desires! Also, event-planners take note: This place has a pool that is FREE to use when you book an event or a meal at Johannes!! I kid you not! I couldn't even believe it when I heard this and you can be sure I will be taking FULL advantage of this little factoid! Other perks: Johannes has cooking classes and tequila tasting classes! Students can enroll for about $1400 MXN pesos or about $70 USD (in 2022) for a whole day of grocery shopping and cooking! PLUS the pool! Honestly, it doesn't get any better than this, and I am extremely lucky/grateful to have found a place like Johannes! Cannot recommend this place enough! Frankly, if you didn't go to Johannes, then you didn't go to Merida. Full stop. So go already!!

Absolutely delicious food! Hidden gem tucked away in Santiago. We ordered a caprese salad, cauliflower tacos and the chicken breast entree. Everything tasted amazing and very fresh. Also nice selection of local yucatecan beers. I enjoyed a strawberry mojito. Beautiful view onto the hotel courtyard and pool. We will definitely be back. Perfect ambiance and very friendly staff.
