El inmueble data del siglo XX. Es un edificio arquitectónico de estilo porfiriano, construido por órdenes del General Díaz en 1912 para ser ocupado por la prefectura política y municipal de Mixcoac. En su momento, el edificio fue despacho del señor Merced Gómez, Presidente Municipal de Mixcoac. Según la historia oral, la casa de cultura inició sus actividades en el año de 1975, es considerada la primera de la ciudad de México; fue conocida en esa época como Casa de Cultura Mixcoac. En 1979 el artista Francisco Othon Eppens Helguera plasma su obra en un mural que se encuentra en la entrada principal. En 1986 se le nombra Centro Cultural Juan Rulfo en homenaje póstumo al escrito mexicano. Acaba de reabrir hace poco. El jardín de atrás, muy lindo con una estatua de Rulfo sentado en un banco. Tienen varios talleres y salas de exposiciones. Gente muy amable interesada en promover el lugar.
The building dates from the 20th century. It is a Porfirian-style architectural building, built by order of General Díaz in 1912 to be occupied by the political and municipal prefecture of Mixcoac. At the time, the building was the office of Mr. Merced Gómez, Municipal President of Mixcoac. According to oral history, the culture house began its activities in 1975, it is considered the first in Mexico City; It was known at that time as Casa de Cultura Mixcoac. In 1979 the artist Francisco Othon Eppens Helguera captures his work in a mural that is located at the main entrance. In 1986 it was named the Juan Rulfo Cultural Center in posthumous homage to the Mexican writer. It just recently reopened. The back garden, very nice with a statue of Rulfo sitting on a bench. They have several workshops and exhibition halls. Very friendly people interested in promoting the place.

Un maravilloso espacio para hacer exposiciones, rodeado de lindas calles. Tiene un pequeño patio con un teatro al aire libre.
A wonderful space to make exhibitions, surrounded by beautiful streets. It has a small patio with an outdoor theater.

Es una Casa de Cultura con mucha historia. Además que cuenta con instalaciones muy lindas, los talleres que brinda son música , danza , artes plásticas, literatura y cine. También cuentan con una galería y auditorio.

El lugar cumple con todas las medidas sanitarias vigentes en la Ciudad de México. La Casa de Cultura tiene diferentes actividades, que permiten a la comunidad desarrollar sus capacidades culturales. las instalaciones porfirianas netamente y antigua municipalidad de Mixcoac. A la entrada se pueden apreciar unos bellísimos murales de francisco Othon Eppens. Vale mucho la pena visitarla por las diferentes exposiciones que ahí se presentan
The place complies with all sanitary measures in force in Mexico City. The House of Culture has different activities, which allow the community to develop its cultural capacities. the Porfirian facilities clearly and the old municipality of Mixcoac. A beautiful house of arts in a preserved square and surrounding facades. An acoustically remarkable place mostly for musicians and music lovers. It used to offer different events, but I'm not aware anymore.
