The best sushi spot in town. The seaweed salad, vegetarian ramen, and lychee icecream were INCREDIBLE. The ambience is great too. There is lots of spaced out seating in a large courtyard that also has sections that are a little more closed off. The art on the walls is trippy and really entertaining as well. This is a must-visit if you're missing Asian food in Oaxaca ?

I’ll start with the good. The ambience and the staff were amazing. You’re greeted by this beautiful courtyard once you step into the restaurant, and the walls were full of murals that was a fusion of Mexican and Japanese culture — very unique. Prices are pretty decent, not too high. My girlfriend who tried the vegetarian ramen had an amazing mushroom broth. The salad spring rolls were delicious. Unfortunately, this is when things start falling short. The Shoryu Ramen had an extremely weak broth, the chashu were absolutely tiny, and the ramen was soggy — which made me feel like the chef didn’t know what they were doing. The Limonada Mineral felt like mineral water with simply lemon squeezed into it. Didn’t taste great. Overall, I would still recommend coming to Kintaro especially if you are having a ramen craving. The restaurant is gorgeous. However, definitely come with tempered expectations if you’re from city with incredible ramen (I came from Vancouver, holla at Marutama Denman).

The beautiful patio is an added bonus to the experience. They do have a well thought food menu with a great selection of cocktails. The food is prepared with care and with fresh ingredients. Starters are quite good, however, I think the ramen could have been a bit tastier (reason why I am giving 4 starts) On the other hand, the cocktails are amazing!

Great atmosphere, the japanese vibe is definitely there :) Very polite waiters, everything seems perfectly organized. I had a roll and ramen, both was prepared and presented really well. Very noble restaurant for sure, perfect for a romantic dinner etc. Prices are ok aswell, 80/140mxn for small/big ramen.

BEST Japanese restaurant in Oaxaca, and honestly, in Mexico. Just got back to México after living in Japan for a year and Kintaro makes me feel like I'm right back on the streets of Japan eating Japanese food! The seafood ramen is a MUST and basically everything else on the menu! Affordable and great environment. I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it is super popular. 100% recommended!!!

It's a upper place in Oaxaca city. If you go in busy hours might need to make a reservation. However, it's really disappointing. The food is barely average. For a seafood ramen, it was tasteless. I ordered hot sauce (extra charge) to help it a bit. The staff is very attentive and welcoming, that makes it better. Also, the place is very beautiful. But, the food isn't worth for the price... If you have tasted ramen before, you'll see.

I've been to some amazing ramen places across the US and in Japan, so I have a very high bar. I had the tan tan men and it was okay. The food is better than the Korean ramen in Oaxaca, but still quite a ways from satisfying and being authentic. What I did love was the setting. The entire space is a work of art; a mix of modern, traditional, Japanese, and Mexican. Three stars for the food. Five stars for the setting.

First meal in Oaxaca city and it was such a great surprise. Best Japanese restaurant I have tried in MEXICO! Love the atmosphere service drinks and food! We did not have reservation but waited for 10 minutes to get a table. It is busy and better to make a reservation in advance. Amazing price for this quality.
