★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was excited to try this place but, unfortunately the flavor did not match the price. They have all the makings of a good food but, they did not get there. Everything is bland. Drinks are not sweet enough, food is not salty enough. We also ordered our food to go and found out when we got home that they didn’t give us one of the orders we paid for. Bummed. I hope they get it together.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was looking for a great tortilleria in Mérida and stumbled on Kool Kaab, which met and surpassed all expectations. They use heirloom corn (“maíz criollo”) to make some fantastic tortillas and also some of the best chips I’ve ever had.
They apparently are part of Transpatio Maya/Taller Maya which works with Mayan communities to support local farmers and craftspeople. I had no idea, but now I’m a real fan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Morning lunch everyday except Monday I believe. Really great tacos, juices, and tetelas; a specialty from Oaxaca that can’t really be found in Merida. They are the same crew from the fine dining spot next door. This place is a little fancier but absolutely worth the prices. You can also get some totopos, tortillas, or masa to go for the house. Provecho!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Without a doubt the rudest service I've ever received in Merida. The guy at the front doesn't even look up from his computer when a customer comes in or leaves. The room looks "cool" but it was unbelieveably hot (they need a better AC!). Terrible experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing little gem - they make your food to order (like, rolling out masa for quesadillas/empanadas/etc.). Service was as amazing as the food! Their empanadas de flor de calabazas were some of (if not "the") best empanadas I've ever had. We will be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible food. You can watch them make their tortillas in front of you then they add incredible toppings or varieties.
The quesadilla, and castacan tacos are big hits! Everything is good honestly. Highly recommend in centro Merida!
