Wow! The food in Oaxaca is generally very tasty and well prepared. There are levels though, and at la Catrina, former oceanographer-turned-chef Luis, masterfully prepares amazing dishes we've tasted before, but we haven't. We started our evening with an aged Mezcal and side water, a tapenade entree (made with two types of roasted peppers and crickets!!) Followed by a carrot soup with an orange zest and other yummy ingredients we'll let Luis tell you himself.That was absolutely yummy with an appreciation for a fresh artisanal bread and butter. It was tastier than any olive spread ive eaten. The main dish was shrimps in a rich mango sauce served over a grilled slice of fresh pineapple. We finished it off with a flan Au cafe . Simply the best place to eat in the area. Open 7-11 pm. Affordable 5-stars dinners. It’s kind of asian-mexican seafood cuisine.

My wife and I had a delicious meal at La Catrina, undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the region. The Prix Fixe menu is $250, and includes appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. Menu changes nightly. The last 100m to the restaurant are up a very narrow and slippery street- better to leave your car below and walk the last bit.

This is the best meal around!! My wife and I had dinner on Valentine's Day with Luis and his wife, WOW it was fantastic. He is a great chef and host. The food was 5 star, the atmosphere was wonderful, no complaints. If you get a chance go here, GO you won't regret it. You must make reservations!We will be back...

This B&B + resturant is located right on the path between Playa Mazunte and Playa Rinconcito. It's quiet and the meals are just amazing!!! We had catch of the day - tuna fish, passion fruit tart and home-made bread. The accommodation is simple and quiet. A perfect place for star-gazing at night.
