Like many people, I usually don’t spend much time when writing a review but this place deserves 5 stars with all the time needed to explain why, and I wish I could give them an extra star from my last personal experience… I tried to write this review on my 3th consecutive day having breakfast there but I could not stop eating so I decided to do this once I got back to the states. Every time we travel to Puebla, my family and I make it a point to go eat at “La Cucina del Nonno”. The food is as good or date I say better than any high end Italian restaurant here in Los Angeles. In fact, if you are lucky enough to have something that the chef just created the day of your visit then I guarantee it to be better than any Italian restaurant here in LA, (just ask for the chef’s special of the day). The portions are plenty, even for a big eater like myself; in fact, my wife and I usually share some of the meals because we know she can’t finish them. Believe me, you’ll want to leave some room for dessert…. Oh the desserts!!!!! Mamma mia!!!! The place is small and cozy, so expect it to be busy, but the workers there will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have your drinks right away while you wait for your FRESHLY prepared food. Yes, it is all FRESH prepared to order: they have no freezers or microwaves, just a cook-top area and a couple of small refrigerators to keep the deserts, cheese, milk, meats and other supplies (if you are lucky, they’ll let you take a pick at the busy kitchen). Also, they never have left over food, trust me. I tried asking for something I had a day before and it was all gone. … and my extra star goes to the atmosphere! The name describes it perfectly: “La Cucina del Nonno” or the “Grandpa’s Kitchen”. 10 minutes after you settle in this place you are immediately immersed in a place that feels nothing like a restaurant but more like you are in someone’s home as a guest. There are always people coming in and out from all directions, greeting each other, and conversing about the recent events happening in this small friendly Italian community. Very cool and inviting. If you are not careful, next thing you know you are part of the conversation, something you will never experience in any big city restaurant. Even the chef if he is not to busy will personally come greet you with a shot of Sambuca, grappa or mescal depending on his inspiration for the day. If you go to “la Cucina Del Nonno”, you will leave satisfied, happy, and you will most likely have made a new friend.

The best italian place in Puebla. This is, by far, the best place I've ever eaten italian food before. I've been to restaurants like Italliani's, Toscania, Il Piacere, etc, and none compares to this place. It's located very near Angelópolis in Puebla City, only a 15 minute drive from Angelópolis to this place. It has a great variety of dishes to select from. My personal favorite is the Pizza Chipilena, and the Chipilena salad. Both of those dishes are an extraordinary delight. They also have different options like Arrachera, or Parmegian Chicken breast, or salmon. I truly recommend going here if you're in the mood for something italian. It's well served, has excelent prices, and pretty nice place to be, once inside.

Upon arrival, I was greeted outstandingly by the hostess of this establishment. The ambient provides first hand comfort and immediately reassures oneself of what is to come out of this meal. Everything from quality to quantity is of pure excellence and I would highly suggest making the time to stop by, not a single regret it held on my behalf. If Italian is one's guilty pleasure, this place is a MUST!

Great finding! The place is run by a local family and it's located 15-20 min from Angelópolis area. They serve really tasty food with local and extremely fresh ingredients. The prices are very good, with good portions. Highly recommend.

The place is clean, cozy, food and drinks are very cheap. Decent food for what you pay but both pasta and pizza were not tasty, the pomodoro sauce tasted blend. Tiramisu was very odd, with chocolate cake and nothing like the original dessert. Service was fast and friendly.

Great Italian fare at a good price. A lunch of pizza, bruschetta, Ceasars salad, and bottle of inexpensive wine was $25 for three people. Popular with the locals.

I have been to this restaurant twice: for my breakfast and lunch. Advantages: - the food is served fast; - with the breakfast they offer the whole pot of coffee, so you don't need to call the waiter if you want to refill your cup; - fluffy and large hotcakes. Disadvantages: - the place is very small and noisy; - the food is of a low quality and not delicious for me, especially salsas; - from the desserts tiramisu is mas o menos ok, but the chocolate cake is from Costco, just they sell it at higher price.
