★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The people are great. However the food is tasteless, and the portions are worse than any gourmet restaurants I have been. An order of egg whites consisted in no more than 1 egg white, for a total cost of ~US$6.5. In addition, it had no flavor. At least for breakfast, this is not the place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were wary at first because at first glance it looks like a bit of a tourist trap. But the food wildly surpassed our expectations. Not everything was perfect (tamal was rather tasteless, and the drinks list isn't great) but the things that were good were really memorable. Days later I keep thinking about the layers of flavour in the Sorpresa Veracruzana (a poblano stuffed with crab and fried in a plantain batter). Also nice to see staff apparently enjoying themselves.
Also, in reference to a negative review below... Who tf orders 'egg whites' and then complains that they're tasteless? Stick to your protein shake and leave the actual restaurants for the rest of us

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant specializes in Veracruz style food. I had the red snapper Veracruz style. Food did not disappoint. However waiter did not check our table at all after food was served. I had to wave him down 30 minutes later for the check. Get a table indoors if you do not want to be bothered by ambulatory vendors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend restaurant for a delicious authentic lunch. We visited based on reviews and were extremely satisfied.
Service was attentive and prompt. Now the food was super delicious. The tortilla soup was one of the best I’ve had, so bold and flavorful!
Hands down some of the BEST mole around. I had the pork mole which was the perfect balance of chocolate sweetness and spices which made for the well balanced dish! A must try for mole and tortilla soup. For desert the freshly made churros were delicious.
Will definitely visit again!
