この人形島を作ったのがドン・ジュリアン・サンタナ氏。
川で少女が溺れていたのを発見したサンタナ氏ですが、助けられず少女は亡くなってしまったそうです。
その少女の供養の為この島を人形でいっぱいにしたそうです。
しかしサンタナ氏も少女が溺れてしまった場所と、まったく同じ場所で溺死しまうという不可解な事故が起きたいわく付きの島。

 There is an eerie island called Ningyojima, which has no address in Xochimilco.
Mr. Don Julian Santana made this doll island.
Santana discovers that a girl has drowned in the river, but she is said to have died without help.
The island was filled with dolls for the memorial service of the girl.
However, Santana also had a mysterious accident where she drowned in the exact same place where the girl had drowned.
