La Pava

Incredible place, without a doubt getting to the top is quite a challenge.

It is a really beautiful place. If you bring children, if it is important to go early enough to go at a calm pace, take care of them all the time since the place is dangerous for children, they could fall and hurt themselves. Carrying enough water, being a hot humid climate will be the most important thing in your journey. Reaching the top is quite an adventure, phenomenal. I recommend wearing hiking shoes, there are parts where the dirt is loose and can be dangerous. The water there, personally I drank from the highest part and it is crystal clear, very rich. I recommend the mole enchiladas, the local mole is delicious.

It is definitely a physical challenge. Bring your minimum 3 liters of water because you will need it, I had to share water and it made me very thirsty to climb. Also have a good breakfast and start to climb preferably at 8am or earlier so that you go calmly. If they also bring food and fruit, it will be easier for them. My mistake was to bring only 2 liters of water and little food. Also I was in tennis and the descent is difficult that way, so if you wear something with a harder sole it might help you. I am not an expert in hiking, it is just my point of view. The guides are very friendly and you can buy food for them when you go down (you will need it), I insist that you have to arrive before 8am. The view is spectacular. It's worth it. Another kind recommendation is for those who are overweight, it can be very difficult, to the point of having to return before the end of the tour, so my last suggestion is to know your limits or be in good physical condition so that when you go up you do not you are going through martyrdom. I forgot to mention that we saw and heard monkeys howling, it was very pretty.

Magnificent place to combine hiking and mountaineering adventure. The best way to reach the top is through Malpasito and locate Don Maurilio Olvera Sanchez, owner of the land where the Cerro de La Pava is. Let's directly benefit the community and put the intermediaries aside.

It is a long journey and you have to be well prepared and count on that on average it takes you about 3-4 hours to reach the top and more or less the same to get off it. My recommendation is that they wear special hiking shoes because I wear tennis shoes and it was not the best decision. It is a beautiful experience and once you are at the top the view is spectacular

Fantastic hiking tour. The view from La Pava is spectacular. You can go up from Villa de Guadaluoe and go through the Las Flores waterfall. The locals are very friendly and you can hire a guide for 800 if you want to go up and camp at the top and go down the next day.
