★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Perla is a place you can rest and have a beer on Galena, one of the central streets of Oaxaca and one that ends at the Basílica and the adjoining hill with antennas and that flowing white structure. I have yet to find out what that thing is, but it's one of those distinctive landmarks, along with the antennas, that creeps into photos of downtown. This hill reminds me of nearby Mazatlán's distinctive and famous hill of antennas, the one on which the crazy old Canadian lives.
