La Tapatia is a restaurant bar whose greatest virtue is its chef, a dedicated and creative cook in his dishes, who contrasts flavors in such a way that they fill the palate of diners in a roller coaster of textures in which they can be tasted from the most delicate notes, even the most characterful products. The chef, Leonardo Herrera Vega, has that authentic interest in satisfying his diner, in surprising him taking care of all the details, his creations are of a good level for that extra touch that he puts on each dish to give it its personality, the Baja Shrimp Tacos , Tuna Tostada and Shrimp and Octopus Coctail are good options, but as excellent dishes we can mention the Pulpo a la Tapatia and the Tacos Dorados de Marlin y Aguachile, the octopus in its perfect point in which it preserves the flavor and texture , and the tacos are a meeting of flavors that explode on the palate. It is worth trying the cuisine of this chef whose pleasant proposal remains on the palate. The prices are quite accessible in terms of the food menu, in relation to the drinks, things change there, since they are on par with a bar on the tourist strip, but there is something for all tastes, cocktails and cantaritos are drinks from the house. I would recommend ordering several dishes as a tasting, you can go with the family (but without children because there is nothing for them, no placemats or special area) at lunchtime to enjoy the food without inconvenience, and later the atmosphere changes a bit more like a canteen and is more suitable for adults who want moments of relaxation with spirits. The restaurant is a picturesque place, saturated with colors and ornaments that border on bad taste in an unnecessary effort to reflect a Mexican atmosphere that falls into a caricatured cliché already widely seen in restaurants that want to attract foreign audiences, thus losing an identity. own that could distinguish it from the others. On the other hand, it does not have parking or ramps for the disabled, the bathrooms are clean and in order. The healthy distance between tables is not respected as ordered by the Ministry of Health and the service is somewhat slow. It is located in a popular area away from the tourist strip, so it is necessary to arrive by taxi or digital platform vehicle, and the same for the time to retire because because of the hidden part of the place it is better to be accompanied.

The place is the most Mexican that you can find here in Puerto Vallarta, I felt like a Guadalajara and its traditional restaurants, the very delicious cantaritos and at a super price, the exquisite food and what I liked the most is that on Sundays they have mariachi

My boyfriend, sister and I learned about this restaurant by recommendation while we were out at another restaurant the day before. As with any new restaurant, we weren't sure what to expect but we were up for an adventure. We just went to have dinner and try the Mexican cuisine on offer (my boyfriend is a Mexican chef so he likes to try different Mexican restaurants) and we ended up staying for almost four hours. The food, the drinks - everything was outstanding. We had the queso fundido, guacamole, cueritos, jugo de carne, and frijoles fritos. I highly recommend the jugo en carne. I had never had it before and it was amazing. The drinks were well-made and they have a full bar available, though I HIGHLY recommend what they specialize in - their cantaritos! They go from individual sizes all the way up to 25 liters!! I also tried licor de pulque for the first time and I really liked it, though I understand that some people either like it or hate it. We were not there when they had live music but they still played music over the speakers and the owners even showed us some of their dance moves. They even sung us a song! It was a lot of fun and we stayed much later than we had anticipated. The service was superb and the owners truly cared about our experience and went above-and-beyond to ensure that it was a memorable one. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the owner herself did it all. It's a very colorful, fun place to be - you can't miss it from the street. My boyfriend (the chef) was very happy and impressed with the quality of the food they had on offer, and even though we ordered a LOT, there was nothing left to take home by the end of the night. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It is off the beaten path, away from the tourist centers of the city, but a short Uber ride nonetheless and well worth the trip. I can guarantee that the next time we are in Puerto Vallarta we will definitely be back to visit. Give it a try if you are in PV - you won't be disappointed.

Was looking for places that served carne en su jugo, a dish most popular in Guadalajara. This place is one of the few that came up in a Google search of Puerto Vallarta. Place is in a neighborhood not far off the beaten path and worth the trip. It's has a festive décor and is very clean. We went for lunch around noon on Sunday. Were told they have mariachis at 4pm on Sundays. We had the carne en su jugo, choriqueso, a cantarito to drink, and pancakes for our daughter. Before the food came they brought out a small dish of refried beans with corn and topped with cheese. This is a signature appetizer at some restaurants in Guadalajara and one of my favorites. We also got an order to go of jericalla, a dessert very similar to flan. All of the food was excellent and the portions were generous! Staff was very nice and service was good. I've added this place to my list of favorites and plan to bring family there on a Sunday when they have the live Mariachis. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
