Located on Calle 38 Norte, towards the quiet end of 5th Avenue, La Brioche portends to offer a taste of Paris in Playa del Carmen, and does so with mixed success at a very fair price. A new-ish contender to Chez Celine at Breakfast, with an air conditioned interior and open air patio, guests can stop by La Brioche beginning at 7:00am daily, the fact that most items cost well below $5USD made more impressive by the degree of craftsmanship implemented in Pastries for 50 pesos. Prone to the same elements that make baking in Quintana Roo a challenge, but faring better with humidity than the likes of Das Brot, Breakfast began with Pan Suisse, the item’s popularity in Mexico admittedly quite surprising and at La Brioche better than others while an Almond Croissant is unfortunately doughy without much evidence of lamination. Improving with a Raisin Snail, its spiral protected by Butter harboring plump Fruit, credit is due for the textbook Choux comprising a Paris Brest filled with delicate Cream while a Pecan Tart attests to good ingredients blended without a lot of added sweetness to fill crisp Crust.

While they serve (to go) baguettes and croissants I wouldn't necessarily compare them to a true french bakery. They are fresh and good every day they're not five star. Definitely worth going and definitely worth eating. They do have five star fresh squeezed orange juice that is super delicious and inexpensive. You can get a to go container next to the register.

We have gone here several times for breakfast and to-go quiche and pastries. The breakfast combos are a great deal. The green (and orange) juice is delicious! Good espresso, breads. I take vanilla eclairs and veggie quiches back to our condo. Everything here is good!

They should really improve the quality of their croissants, pain Au chocolat and hot chocolate. My pain Au chocolat was just not fresh, it felt like box bread, I even felt like a piece of butter.

Pastries are well made, a bit on the sweet end so if you have a hankering for something sweet but well made. Excellent croissant - careful which drink you choose, didn’t know all these fun toppings would come on the frappe ? also had the fruit tart, cream filling was a bit on the sweet end but the tart was good.

3/5 The pastries are good but that’s about it. Nothing special about the menu or drinks. Rose your money somewhere else. Staff was friendly and nice. But a bit too cold and we didn’t felt welcomed.

Nice spot to have breakfast or lunch. Arrived at 8:30am and didn’t have to wait for a table or service. The Mexican egg special comes with green or orange juice and choice of hot beverage and brioche or croissant. The eggs were good, but not magical. The juice was fresh and the beans were excellent! The brioche was also fresh and I would have again. The location is safe and in a touristy spot with lots of lush greenery.

We were here for breakfast, somehow our two kids got to eat for free?! The kids meals included scrambled eggs, one brioche, a hash brown, a cup of chocolate milk. And for free? We were pleasantly surprised. We had Mexican style eggs and they were so delicious with a tinge of heat. Excellent experience!
