★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Asentamiento de origen chontal, data de a mediados de 1700, 90% de la población profesa la religión católica, cuenta con escuelas del nivel preescolar a medio superior, así como servicio de agua potable, alumbrado público, alcantarillado, centro de salud, comercios; la actividad económica gira en torno principalmente a la ganadería, comercio, agricultura, pesca. Cuenta con servicio de transporte público cada 10 minutos que conectan con la capital del estado. La fiesta patronal se realiza del 14 al 16 de Julio celebrando a la Virgen del Carmen, otras festividades importantes se realizan los días 1 y 2 de noviembre, siendo está comunidad de las pocas que acostumbran a quemar vela a sus difuntos por las noche; destacando en dicha celebración el típico tamal de tortilla, único lugar donde se elabora. Los principales productos agrícolas son: yuca, camote, maíz, plátano, calabaza, cacao, mango, naranja, aguacate, limón, entre otros. El suelo es arcilloso y la geografía compuesta por lomas; a 5 kilómetros pasa el río Tulijá. No cuenta con artesanías. Se ofrece como un lugar de disfrute al descanso y al paseo a caballo o bicicleta; prácticando senderismo, fotografía de naturaleza, paisajismo, en ciertos terrenos con autorización de los propietarios se puede realizar cámping.
