Malini, fundador y jefe de cocina, nació en Nueva Delhi. Criada en una familia del sur de la India, Malini siempre tuvo pasión e interés por la cocina. Inicialmente siguió su carrera en Recursos Humanos y luego tuvo que mudarse a Mumbai después del matrimonio. Luego desarrolló su interés por la cocina y planeó iniciar una pequeña empresa de servicios Tiffin en la colonia de viviendas donde residía. Desde el principio, siempre se esforzó por crear diferenciadores en su servicio. Con esa visión, formó la «Cocina de barrio», que era conocida por el servicio de tiffin entregado a tiempo en la puerta de alta calidad.
Por sus compromisos familiares, Malini tuvo que trasladarse a México. No sabía que su experiencia de dirigir Neibhorhood Kitchen en India podría dar alas a su sueño de abrir un restaurante. En el corazón de la Ciudad de México, abrió “Suvai”, un auténtico restaurante indio que sirve comida callejera regional de todas partes de la India. Abrió sus puertas al pueblo de México el 3 de mayo de 2021, Suvai es hasta ahora el restaurante indio mejor calificado en la Ciudad de México. También atendemos fiestas, matrimonios y también eventos corporativos. Su visión es introducir la comida india en el mapa culinario mundial. Basándose en las similitudes de los hábitos alimentarios que existen en México, se está esforzando mucho para hacer realidad su visión.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was amazed to find this place. Real south Indian flavors in south Mexico City, in a small, friendly informal setting. Malini and her crew are great. Their menu has everything, but if it's not there she will make it for you. Friendly folks who obviously enjoy making great food.

Just don't expect a quite atmosphere as the place opens directly to a busy street. Will definitely come back whenever the craving strikes again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite shocked to stumble upon a South Indian restaurant! Had fun talking in Tamil with the owner.
Its a place on the smaller side. They had two tables inside and two tables outside - each seating 4. The decor and colors are quite nice.
The owner is very pleasant, sweet and attentive. They immediately served us water in fun looking copper glasses.
We ordered Dahi wada (thayir vada). It was dunked in yogurt, tamarind sauce and a green sauce, rendering a fantastic tangy taste.
We followed it with sambar wada. The sambar was on point. It was just fantastic!
We ended by devouring their dosas - nicely done.
Highly recommend.
Now, this is the clencher - if you guys like/love barotta/parotta (not the north indian paratha), then the good news is that they serve then over the weekends with egg curry or chicken curry! How cool is that?
