★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I returned to Los Girasoles after several years, and was surprised by the quality of the food. Ambiance is good, several options for drinks, so plan on starting with one. :-) And then, devote some time to read the (big) menu, for many of the dishes are truly amazing, and include complex combinations.
The 'tuetano' is great! (Sopes and meat).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I must say that this restaurant is by far, one of the best places I've ever eaten in my life, and I have been quite a few places. This is a must stop location, you can feel the history as you enjoy your meal and soak in the atmosphere. If you are in Mexico City, you should make time to patronize this establishment, you will not regret it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had not been in probably 20 years, and had fond memories of the place. I was prepared to be disappointed, since restaurants can easily go downhill. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was still quite good, and everyone enjoyed their food. It was pretty traditional upscale Mexican, but tasty and in a very nice spot in Mexico City, near Bellas Artes. Roberto was quite helpful with the non-Spanish speaking members of our group, and they were entertained. Can still recommend it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I found the food okay and the service was friendly, but for me not extraordinary. I was by myself and dropped in for a very quick lunch. At the end, I tipped just about 10%. Mostly because the bill was 227 pesos and I had 250 in cash. The waiter literally told me that it’s not enough as a tip. Now, I am not a stingy tipper (never been), and I can appreciate feedback if I am culturally completely off, but as far as I researched, tips are still optional and 10-20% for a quick lunch in a restaurant should be okay. I ended up putting another 20 pesos that I had to search for in my bag for a couple minutes but left with a very uncomfortable feeling about this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The environment sitting out on the plaza was amazing. The staff were friendly and courteous, I don’t know a lot of Spanish but through the translator we did very well. The presentation of the soup was amazing and it tasted amazing! The environment in the washrooms were incredibly clean, spotless! I enjoyed my time here and look forward to returning next week.
