Beautiful, natural place. The staff was super friendly and efficient. We had a great time. We planned to spend an hour here and ended up staying all day eating and drinking for a reasonable price.

What an amazing beautiful place! It’s a must see when in Bacalar. The water is brightly beautiful of different shades of blue that’s its hard to believe nature created it. When coming here plan to spend a while here. The entry fee is about $7 usd but it includes a life vest. They have lockers to rent but when we went they didn’t have any available. They also have food and drinks available for sale. Bring water shoes! You can kayak or walk to one end of the “rapids” and then let go and let the current take you back to the beginning if you plan on walking beware that the rocks you’re walking in are very uneven and harp. I hit my toes and broke a nail because I had in open toe shoes. It’s so much fun when you are done walking and let the current take you. It’s like a fast lazy river. However at the end the currents started taking me past the end so I had to fight to go back. You can find stromatolites here that are almost 3.5 billion years old. One of the oldest organisms on the planet Stromatolites or stromatoliths are layered sedimentary formations that are created mainly by photosynthetic microorganisms such as cyanobacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria and proteobacteria. Lovely place. We got there at 10 for opening and were the first to head up stream before foisting back down. By the time we were back it was a lot busier. 150 pesos to enter and all taxi drivers seemed to know the way. Not many seats are in the sun but if you go around the corner there are some great spots. Food was very average.

Make sure you come early. At least 15 min before they open. And get the far left seating (if you are a group of 4 or more), go as far as you can. There is a minimum spend of 1500 pesos for this lounge, but if you all eat and have few drinks, that’s it, it’s worthy.

LOVEDDDDD THIS PLACE! solo female traveler, I felt very safe here. Free parking, $2 locker to rent to store your belongings- though some people leave their stuff in chairs for free… I personally wouldn’t. good food, drinks & music. It was one of the highlights of my trip. Would definitely recommend you bring some water shoes

Very crowded tourist rip off place. You pay an entrance and for everything you do, even if you just want to sit somewhere. We hired a Kayak and waited for 1.5 hours with no success. They had 3 broken kayaks they couldn’t offer. The staff was unfriendly and unwilling to give us our money back. Supposed to be an peaceful destination but in fact its a crowded tourist train station with products sold and not delivered.The emphasis is money, money, money.

Loved our day here. The access costs 300 pesos, but when you get in, you can sit at a table in the shadow and enjoy your day in and out the river. You can rent kayaks to explore the lagoon around or you can just put on a life vest, go up the river and let yourself float down up to the restaurant. The menu is decently priced and includes cocktails. Waiters are relaxed and don't put any pressure on you to order more and more.

Make sure you get here in time as you want the most day light as possible to enjoy the natural beauty of this place. We were very grateful that this location has the convenience of taking cards as some or most do not. The food was nothing short than wonderful and fresh! The service was great and our server kept our drinks full and happy. We did not get a locker but would suggest one for a better piece of mind although we did not because our server was kind enough to keep an eye out for our belongings
