Honestly - not a boutique hotel at all! 100% money driven. A person who builds a hotel over the whole plot of land - higher than the palm tress.. in a biosphere reserve has no boutique aspect at all. We do not need to talk about environmental friendly or respecting the nature and beauty of it at all. This whole project is money driven. Something we do not want to support. They’re offering 12 rooms in total.. Unfortunately they forgot to buy land for the parking.. 12 rooms = 12 cars? How will El Cuyo look like when everyone builds till the edges of the plot and people have to park their cars somewhere in nature around the hotel? We stayed here two nights and wished we would have spend the money somewhere more local. The rooms are a bit too pricy for the quality. + the bedsheets don’t smell fresh and good. We didn’t use our balcony at all - since the view wasn’t like described on the pics at booking. We were expecting more nature + watching the stars at night. But instead we had the noice and lights of their restaurant below. And another hotel right to the left when looking out of the window. We’re attaching the view out of our window in a picture. So people - when visiting El Cuyo, please stay with someone who respects the place and has build according.

Nice place for private and romantic stay, excellent food if you just want to go there for dinner. Privileged location next to the beach

There are a lot mixed experiences in these reviews but I want to set the record straight. Our experience staying at LunArena was fantastic. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, friendly, warm and spoke English and Spanish. All of the sheets, towels, curtains, surfaces were clean and free from stains. The room itself was clean as well as all of the cutlery, kitchen equipment and fridge. Our room was the one we booked - if you book through booking.com it is fairly obvious - if you want an ocean view, jungle view or other choice, select it. If you don't select ocean view, don't expect to get one. Our room was jungle view and we got a beautiful view of the jungle as well as a slice of the ocean. The bed was very comfy, as was the hammock and the breakfast, although a little small on the portion size was very tasty and was served until 1100. The kitchen staff know what they are doing and were more than happy to cook some fish which I had caught once I had cleaned them. Thank you :) Our bathroom was spacious, clean and everything functioned perfectly. WiFi was a little slow but good enough to do most things on a mobile device - Spotify, YouTube, etc... The garden area is cosy, relaxing and nice to chill in. They have a good range of drinks and stop serving alcohol at 2200 and food at 2100. The only negatives which I think they should try to rectify would be; - invest in air-conditioning units for all rooms - the fans provided, whilst being new and high tech just do an ok job of getting you cool. We opened all the windows with the mosquito netting closed to let the air through and it was ok to get a decent nights sleep. For the price though, air-conditioning should really be there. - ants in the garden area - they are brutal and they do bite your legs . Whilst I appreciate nature and wildlife, something should probably be done about this as it isn't pleasant to sit unless you have your feet off the ground. - mosquitos, bring repellent. I do not normally get bitten nor do I normally use repellent, but they were quite relentless even after the staff lit small smudges fires to dispell them. Overall we had a lovely, relaxing time at LunArena and will definitely be coming back next year. The beach at El Cuyo including the section which is private to LunArena is wonderful, clean and fantastic for star gazing on a clear night. El Cuyo itself is a hidden gem and a wonderful place full of friendly locals and great restaurants. If you like fishing, the pier will offer you countless hours of fun and possibly a meal too ;) Great hotel in a slice of paradise.

The space is lovely, but we paid 7.00 each USD for margaritas with no alcohol (lime and crushed ice). The glasses were half full. Unfortunately we won’t be back .

Nice area and nice beaches BUT the hotel is the worst nightmare! Do yourself a favor and do not stay there. We didn’t get the room we booked and also without airconditioning - imagine to sleep with hot temperatures on a swinging bed - we couldn’t sleep at all… We left after the first night after contacting Booking.com and the hotel concerning a refund for the remaining nights. The receptionist Anai said we will get the money back as they couldn’t offer us the booked room - well after promising twice we still don’t have our money back. In the process of discussing the refund a lot things Anai said turned out to be a lie. Their business practices are very unethical. Food is also overpriced, extremely small portions and wasn’t tasty. So better go to cafe places like Anahata or Naia cafe - they offer better breakfast for better prices! Same for dinner - I can recommend La Limonaia and El Camaron. All these places have super nice staff and very good food. Furthermore are the pictures of the rooms way more promising as they are in reality - see for yourself (I attached some pictures). Also the pool is very small and looks kinda dirty. So if there’s anything specific you want to have like aircon, pool, sufficient breakfast this is definitely not the place to go. To sum it up: This hotel is clearly about making money only and not making you relax and having a good time. There are a lot very nice hotels in the same street with approx. the same price or even less and way better service and rooms! Just stay somewhere else.

We stayed 5 days in Lunarena and we loved it. We were looking for tranquility, a peaceful place with beautiful beaches to be able to walk for km, a super little boutique hotel with excellent service, friendly staff and good food, we found it all here ! The room was perfect with a great view and spectacular sunrise and sunset views (yes booth !).

It is a nice place if you want to disconnect from the world but the service needs to be better, the staff is the same of the restaurant so they didn’t give me the menu because they were very busy at the lobby so I had to ask them for the menu. I really liked my room, the view, and the place. If you are looking for good wifi this is not the place, is very slow, I stressed so much on my meetings because I was disconnecting and there is no signal service.

We loved every moment of this place. The staff were welcoming, smiling and helpful. The location was a great getaway from the "spring breakers" in Cancun. The room we booked was excellent. It had a balcony with a hammock which faced the jungle. The walls are white and it is always bright and beautiful. Really nice concept. It had a kitchen and a fridge in the room as well as a sitting area. It is large and very comfortable/relaxing. Breakfast had 3 options to choose from, pancakes, omelets or oats alongside coffee.
