★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amy's restaurant is a beautiful place that reflects the low-key, enlightened vibe of San Augustinillo. While looking out over the street below and the waves at sea, you should definitely get the especialidad de casa - your choice of one of four veggie burgers served with the freshest, most diverse set of veggies I've found in Mexico.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For me, as a vegan, this has been one of the best gastronomical experiences of my 5 weeks in Mexico.
Situated on the 2nd floor with a peek-a-view of the ocean in San Augustinillo, Oaxaca, Luz del Sol exceeded my expectations. Casual and non descript but offering a varied menu (in English or Spanish!) including vegan, vegetarian but no meat dishes, so no worry about cross contamination. The server was extremely pleasant, professional and pretty. The first restaurant in Mexico where I was offered a simply glass of cold water with or without ice. I had the specialty of the house - 100% vegan veggie burger, which they offer made from lentils, beets & sunflower seeds in curry sauce, chickpeas or blackbean/mushroom/chili. It was served with enough of a salad that I used some of it to put on the burger. The cold Raw Key Lime Pie ("almost 100% organic") I enjoyed was delicious and welcome in the 30+° heat. As my followers may know I own a hemp shop, so I was very pleasantly suprized to find hemp seeds on the menu. It is on the main street, which is also the main road to Mazunte and Playa Ventanilla, so stop in, if you are passing through or staying and enjoy for yourself. The staff only spoke Spanish, so you will have added pleasure to practise your language skills.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had lunch two times here and both times we left really happy and satisfied.
The menu is full of fresh and healthy items Vegetarian/Vegan.
Also has loads of raw deserts. (Try the key lime pie)
Prices are on the higher end but I do feel that it is worth every peso.
On the picture Zoodles with vegan pesto, Buddha bowl with hummus and quinoa and a beetroot juice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good food and fast service in an open air neatly thatch roofed patio space. Couches, tables and a bar style sitting area over looking the road offers several seating options. The menu presents several smoothie and desert options besides the food. Try the zoodles in pesto sauce.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is nice cozy and the food is good but we waited for over 1,5 hours for a burger and quesadillas. No sorry no nothing. And yes 10% tip is included for a Terrible service. It’s a shame as providing good service is actually not that difficult.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is incredible! Try the beet burger...smoothies are fantastic and you can't go wrong with any of Amy's amazing desserts.
I was also here for a spiritual retreat and it was the most powerful experience I have ever been gifted. I am new to meditation and Amy made me feel comfortable and supported. I made unforgettable discoveries about myself and am clear on my future...even though the amount of courage I must summon for change is scary, I can see the path clearly before me. I recommend this to every single person! While my journey was a pivotal life change, I see the future benefits of Amy's retreat as a routine practice for spiritual growth. What I love most is that I still use the teachings as a daily reminder of how energy works in mysterious ways. Forever grateful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely amazing food. I’ve only downgraded them from 5 to 4 star because of service. You really need 2.5 hours to successfully eat here (consistently). And on the worst days, they go ahead and add a 10% tip to the bill for you. But the breakfasts are worth it, so go when you have time. Great combinations of smoothies, delicious bowls, out of this world oatmeal, and the most fantastic vegan, sugar free desserts you’ve ever tasted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great vegetarian food! I ordered veggie burger with blackbean and mushrooms and it was splendid. Full of flavour. Mushroom taste came through. Additional homemade French fries were delicious. Crispy. Homemade mustard and chilli tomato sauce. Fresh salad on the side with sprouts. Loved every bite. Friendly service!
