Great room and location for a reasonable price. Plaza Santa Lucia with free live music on Thursday evenings is on the same block. Calle 60 is the place to be!

Great location, friendly staff. But the room has a infestation of ants and constant noise from the construction above my room during the day was not enjoyable. Also the very thin walls allowed me to stay awake all night listening to my neighbors snoring. If your looking for a place to catch up on some rest I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The location is great but that is all. The hotel is old and you feel it every where, in the lobby and in the room even the towels were old. We arrived on Dec 25 we booked the hotel on hotels. com with the option to pay at the hotel. When arrive we find out our Canadian credit card was charged on December 23 for one night stay. We were upset as we made the reservation with a Canadian card but we were planning to pay cash and not pay with the credit card and not be charge the extra 2.5% conversion charge. I don't understand why they charge our card two days before we arrived. This never happened to us before. Our room was 302 which was nicely located away from the street noise, it had 3 beds which was the reason we booked this hotel but there was no room for anything else in the room. Breakfast was $100 pesos, was not expensive but nothing special. We were there for 2 nights, second breakfast we eat somewhere else. So if you thinking about this hotel, think twice. I don't understand how it got 4 stars reviews.

The breakfast was nice and plenty of it. The room was clean but quite small for four people. Good location. However, the night staff were a bit rude. Also, we hired a car on the recommendation of the day staff (the company is called EMA) - the car got a flat tire on the first day then failed to start on the second day when we were in the middle of nowhere, over an hour from Merida. We were very lucky that some locals helped us...

Staff we're very hospitable, professional, and friendly. The place was very relaxing, quiet, clean, beautiful in/out modern, elevator, A/C, swimming pool, parking, close to downtown. You are in luck if you find this place. We paid more in other town for "' good reviews but it was about half this nice and noisy, but this hotel is great in all aspects. Costumer service was comparable five start jotel in the US we stayed in two different rooms and both were nice

Really hot water for the shower. Very helpful young man at the front desk. Beautiful yard with swimming pool for enjoying the afternoon. We had a king size comfortable bed, a/c worked well, we didn’t try the tv. WC and shower were separated by a door, so the sink was in the room, which was very convenient and kept the sulfur smell out. Overall a good hotel experience and we would recommend.

"reminiscence of Belle epoque" is in their pamphlets and promotional material and it does seem like "faded elegance" is a good way to describe this place, which we got for $28 USD during the high season of mid December. The setting is very nice and our room overlooked a lovely terrace and pool which I wish we could have had time to stay in. However the experience is marred with small annoyances. The hot water was almost non existent for a shower. A maintenance guy was in and out of our room for 15 minutes tinkering with things and finally got it so we had 2 minute "bursts" of hot water and it was good enough to get a shower done. The towels are pretty threadbare, they've seen better days. My bedside lamp had the switch broken off, so it could not be rotated, so to turn on and off you merely plug the cord in and unplug. The hotels website advertises both on its Spanish and English versions of the site that a breakfast is included with the room, but the reception simply said "no, that is not true" - if you run a website, keep it up to date. It's as simple as that.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, what should have been a short two day stay at Maison del Embajador turned into a week and a half. During that time, this hotel almost started to feel like a home-away-from-home. Spacious room, nice pool and very friendly staff. Not to mention the fact that the whole place was super clean during our entire stay. Taking into consideration the price and the perfect location (almost all places we visited were within walking distance) - I can’t imagine I’d ever book a different hotel should I return to Merida.
