Малолюдная деревенька. Местные встречают на мотороллерах прям на въезде, предлагая свои туры на лодках к крокодилам и фламинго с пеликанами. Цены называют из головы нас двоих отвезли за 500 песо.
A sparsely populated village. Locals meet on scooters right at the entrance, offering their boat tours to crocodiles and flamingos with pelicans. Prices are called from the head of the two of us were taken for 500 pesos.

Rio Lagartos is a quiet and small town in the northern part of Yucatan. It is one of the best places I've been in Mexico to watch the sunset. If you happen to be in the area, stay for one day or two and enjoy some relaxing time under the sun / moonlight. The small town is low of options in terms of things to do, but walking down to the city sign is a nice way to see this little village. There are many boat tours that leave from this town. Tours ranges from visiting the nearby natural biosphere up to going down to Las Coloradas or even further to Holbox. Depending on how much time you want to spend here, you can stay at a cosy hotel with a poolside and great restaurant. We stayed at Hotel Rio Lagartos, and the experience was fantastic. The food was really good and the service was excellent too. Locals here are very kind and do a great job offering services as such to tourists. There aren't many places to visit other than Las Coloradas if you want to explore the region by car, and at night the city is tranquil and not much can be found to do here. It can rain a lot in these parts, and public drainage and sewage system is not great. So, keep yourself some extra time when heading back to your next destination in case flooding problems occur and it takes longer than usual to be solved. You will not want to stay put here due to bad weather conditions and loose a flight or pay extra car fees for not taking this kind of issue into consideration when planning a trip around Yucatan.
