★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I visited Tulum and wanted to stay the first few days in downtown. We booked Mamazul and it’s a small boutique hotel where they have 6 rooms. We stayed in the Master King Tepeztate! The only issue we had was arriving to the hotel, we drove about 10 minutes going in circles because we could not find it. The hotel is inside a pathway and you have to park infront or on the side of Niik Hotel. It would be helpful for future guests to have a sign somewhere so they don’t have the same issue we had. The room was great, it comes with AC and a TV. The bathroom window was a little too open as it is see through. The walk-in shower was great, water does tend to get messy and get the floor wet. Breakfast is complimentary and tasted authentic and fresh. When you get to the room, there are a flight of stairs so be prepared for that if you have lots of luggage. If your out and about past 11pm they do close the hotel, but there’s a staff member in the lobby who will open door for you. If you keep going upstairs, you will find an amazing rooftop pool with great WIFI. It’s very relaxing and you get some amazing views. You can choose to have dinner there or there’s restaurants around within walking distance. The only issue I had was when I booked, they did charge the full amount. I arrived thinking everything was great but upon check in they said they returned the money and I had to pay the full balance. This obviously took a turn as far as budgeting for Tulum but I paid it. Overall this is my review for Mamazul and hope it helps others! Would recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m so glad we took a chance on this place. It has been open for only TEN months but they know ??exactly ??what ??they’re ?? doing.
Started off with a fantastic mezcalita and moved on to the taco tasting with mezcal pairing… all their tacos are amazing. Octopus, beef cheek, porcini! SO good.
Their mezcals and etc. selection are artisanal af and you can’t find these bottles in the US. Unfortunately you can’t buy them there either… but it makes it worth sticking around and trying everything for a few hours.
The space is perfect and tucked away. Not tons of people there - which is great but I hope they get the business they deserve. All of their silverware and plate-wares are handmade by Maya from Tulum.
Everyone at the restaurant was fantastic. Loved it so much that we’re going back tonight. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best restaurant in Aldea Zama, great food and beautiful decor. By far the best Mezcaleria in Tulum, huge mezcales selection from all over Mexico, good Tequila selection and many Mexican spirits and cocktails. Come for tacos and mezcal pairing and stay for dinner!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had such a great late lunch here with amazing mezcal drinks! The catch of the day ceviche was so tasty and the 2 for 1 mezcal drinks were also incredible. Ordered the hibiscus and passion fruit flavours and both were great! Customer service was very good too. Would definitely recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is the best - hands down you have to go!
Why?
-only place to do mezcal tastings of ones that you can’t find at the grocery store
-staff is friendly and so knowledgeable
-custom mezcal tastings and food pairings
-create your own mezcal cocktails
-food is DELICIOUS and seasonal
We have been here for dinner twice now because it was so fun and plan to go back for lunch to try their tacos then!
Dinner food we tried: short rib, sea bass, flank steak, roasted chicken, elote, ravioli, and fettuccini.
Perfect blend of Mexican and Italian deliciousness.
The mezcal: seriously the BEST! You can make a custom tasting or get one of their preset tastings (we did a preset the first night to figure out what we liked and then did custom on the next time we returned). They have house brand and also lots of other artisanal and ancestral bottles from all over Mexico. They sell their house brand mezcal but also sometimes have extra of the other ones and if so will let you purchase those as well.
If you’re more into mezcal cocktails than straight mezcal they also have that! Delicious and refreshing- plus you can make your own mezcalita (choose your juice mixer and topping)- yum!
If you happen to be lucky enough to be there when the owner is there sit at the bar and learn from him! Although you can’t go wrong with any of the people working there- they all know so much and are passionate about mezcal.
Bottom line: this place is a MUST do in Tulum!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably the best food we had in Tulum. And of our two weeks so far in Mexico the best food we have had overall I could say (on the higher end on the price scale). Out of the tacos the mushroom was a stand out, second coming was the pumpkin. The steak comes out on a salt slab which is damn good. And the surprising dish that knocked my socks off was the Esquite. It’s been a long time since a dish has surprised and impressed me that much. Plus the staff are super lovely. Only thing I’d note is the lighting could come down a little for dinner, it felt a bit bright and didn’t match the level of food.
